This may have been asked before, but what got you curious to try shrooms/acid? For me, it was the movie Flirting With Disaster (with Ben Stiller) who hunts down his real parents who happen to be hippies who have their own LSD lab. After that, I found www.erowid.org and read some actual facts on acid (not the bullshit propaganda that made me want to stay away from it...jumping out of windows, going insane, etc).

I always wanted to try shrooms since I saw some guys at a party on them.... they were laughing and having a good old time..... before this I always though those kinda drugs were scary and dangerous. I'm pretty sure the first website I visited was the shroomery... years ago....

hm, first time I was introduced to shrooms was with a good friend that wanted to try them that summer. I was curious about hallucinating and thought it would be fun to try as well, but back then I thought you'd hallucinate from mild poisoning so I thought it was a bit too risky for me. LSD on the other hand seemed like the perfect drug to me: fast, clean, no weird fungi. But I was way too young to get that.
So I kinda forgot about it. But when I got bored from weed after a while, I remembered about the shrooms. I was especially interested in auditory hallucinations, visuals would be nice as well but the main reason for me to try them was to improve listening to music since that means so much to me. After reading a bit on erowid I found out that they really aren't as harmfull as I thought them to be, so soon after that I tried them. Too bad music doesn't improve that much on shrooms, but I found so many other interesting things when shrooming so that isn't as important to me anymore.

Acid first: Brother got some for free from a dealer he knew and got me to try it while I was Practically passed out drunk(not for long though).
Shrooms: Best friends older brother was buying them off of this guy at reck beach(vancouverites know this beach,its a nudy beach) So we asked if he could get us some.

I was driving past that beach the other day and you know how its all borded off and shit well some guy was walking down the street naked. He probably got in trouble from the cops or just decided to go back in...whatever...
Shrooms: I was at a friends and we were trying to get some weed but couldn't find any. The guy had some shrooms and I got a gram. Well, I split this with three people, not knowing anything at that time and didn't trip at all. The first time that I acutally tripped was pretty fun...I had recently teached my buddie how to grow them because I couldnt do it at home and we sampled the first batch. Very mellow buzz but good none the less. Now i've been using them a little more regularly (but still only like 1x ever 2 months or so).
Acid: Never...but i'm hoping too when I am older!

sounds strange i guess, but i wanted to do psychedelics for almost as long as i can remember (i remember thinking "bullshit" in dare class in 4th grade)
probably because i've listened to jambands and been around old hippies (family) my entire life

I used to go drinking down my local park around the age of 14 (wow thats ages ago) it was an age were we felt too old to play soldiers in the woods, but were too young to go drinking in a pub, so the park it had to be.
Actually it was a great place to meet people (read girls)  and have fun. I met these older guys from my school one night and they were drinking AND smoking this stuff they called "Red", it was actually red seal hash, you know the really pliable soft stuff. When they found out I'd never smoked before they became eager to get me stoned.
A few tokes/ blowbacks later (blowback= joint is put into someones mouth backwards with the roach end facing the receipient who cups his hands over the end and inhales a lungful) I when home completley strung out and spent the rest of the evening spread out iin a star shape on the floor with a massive grin on my face.
I was first introduced to Hoffmans love child around the same year. I used to go to a youth club in my area and all the kids up till the age of 19 were allowed in, so the older kids who were there kinda got me into it (among other things, E's, speed etc).
I heard about magic mushrooms when I was about 16.
A few of us decided that we would go out to find some as we had been told it was the right season. We got a book out from the library (no internet then i'm afraid. Actually there was but not for everyday people).
We went to various spots looking for the legendary Liberty cap and found something very close to the dodgy drawings that were in the book.
They turned out not to be psychoactive, I think they were haymakers I think.
My real introduction to shrooms was when I first discoverd the shroomery (see registration date), grew some with some success (that was my first trip in about four years), then a mighty hunting success (liberty caps, psilocybe cyanescens!)

heh yeah i live in vancouver too. the first time i did shrooms, i got em from a guy at wreck beach as well.
i don't really know why i suddenly decided to do shrooms, but i'm glad i did. before, i was pretty sure i would never touch the stuff (but then that's also what i thought of weed before). i mean, a bunch of my friends had done it, but at that time i thought of shrooms as a "hard" drug. but then one day, i was job-hunting with a buddy and he told me that they were planning to shroom that night. i guess i was curious...i dunno, really. so i said yes when he asked if i wanted to come, and i started reading up on shrooms at erowid when i went home, finding out what to expect and such. and finding out that it's really not as bad as i thought it was. that put my mind at ease, and i had a really good time that night.

I've never been to wreck beach. My friends older brother was one who went there at the time(he was 25 we were 15). Heheh 15 is not an age that you go to the beach naked

I had only drank and smoked pot for a few months, and my friend started telling me about acid, and I got really into what it was and finally did it one day with him at my ranch, 2 hits of PEZ each ... and that changed everything for me, literally, my life radically changed in every aspect.
With shrooms, I just bought a 1/4 off a friend and ate an eighth with the friend who introduced me to acid...just can't get enough of trips

I remember learning about all the drugs in grade 4 where the cop comes in and teaches you and crap. I would always be like.. angel dust and weed are so cool.. i didnt know anything.. then around grade 9 i was introduced to the rave scene with all the cool drugs there.. E, meth, G etc. but i never did them. Then in grade 11 the mudvayne CD came out... for those of you who know Mudvayne the intro song on their CD has an interview with Terence McKenna.. so he was talking about Mushrooms helping in our evolution and that they can help in our future evolution..i found this so interesting, so i found Lycaeum and Erowid and Shroomery.. and here I am today

My mom has always smoked weed, but it never clicked in my head till the DARE program after I read littlebit of the book i was like "hey, Thats what their doing" "I wonder what thats like" I had gotton drunk before 6th grade and sneaked cig's but never tried pot, So i just had to sneak some when I got home. snuck some only got slightly high(did not know what I was doing and very scared my I would get caught taking their drugs, also did not know about joints running)I never took anymore after that just kinda forgot about drugs got into freestyle bikes and skateboards then in 9th grade my older cousin got me baked before thanksgiving dinner and then came and staye dover at my house for a few days andbrought a fat sack with him and that was the beginning of my pot habit, I had also seen LSD in the dare book and thought it would be cool to see and hear thing that were not their I could not get my hands on any in 9th grade so I just read everything I could about the drug,every encyclopedia or phamphlet I could get, but when I got into highschool The first few weeks I found a LSD connection and started tripping,Took it by myself the first time and found it to be really cool and I've been trying to turn people on ever since!

I think the first time I thought about using drugs in the hallucinogenic category was way back in ninth grade. Good ol' health class taught you about drugs. LSD is what stood out from every other. I believe the description went something like this:
Billy one day decided to take LSD. He dreamt he was in a beautiful field with butterflies and he frolicked around. The next time he took LSD, he saw a lake, with trees and fish and a rainbow overhead. Billy one final time took LSD and had a "'bad trip'", He was scared, he believed demons were chasing him and when they caught him, they shredded him and his pathetic soul to shreds. Afterwards, Billy swore he would never again touch LSD. A week later, he had an episode where
he was being chased by demons again. Billy now suffers from '"flashbacks'".
Anyhow, I thought the hallucinations were cool, and was curious about it. I didnt decided I actually wanted to do them until my senior year. I read up on erowid and lyceum about LSD and mushrooms. I read how bad trips are a minimal risk when you are careful. I decided to give it a go. LSD was the first thing available in my area, so that is what I did.

I first tried shrooms for my 17th birthday. A friend of mine showed up with a quarter and gave them to me as a birthday present. Five of us split them up and ate them all, though none of us had done anything other than pot before. We all had a blast, and those four guys have turned into my best tripping buddies.

I was in boot camp at age 17, and I wrote my older brother and asked him to send me a hit of acid. The only drugs I'd ever tried were alcohol and weed, and there I was, in Army boot camp, telling my brother it'd be cool, I'd go on sick call and enjoy it in the clinic!
Lucky for me he didn't send any.

back in high school in the late 60s, i had read the "look" and "life" magazine articles on psychedelics, and was sorta into the rock n roll consumer scene (dug the byrds & the airplane & the stones & the beatles & hendrix &&&) ... knew a couple kids who were "using" (afaik, pot & coke...) ...but i didn't toke up until 2nd semester frshman year at college (& i turned down an offer of a group excursion to downtown cleveland to see the dead in 1970... oh well... saw 'em the next time they hit town & was seriously blown away  ...) & in summer of '71 did a morning glory extraction... & then in fall of '71 one of my college chums got some acid on blotter... had a few random trips, some good & some not so good... then in '72 moved to an apartment near coventry village (one of the cleveland hippie enclaves) & got into it for the next few years, i suppose... again, sometimes good and sometimes bad... there were a few "older heads" who occasionally had some excellent advice... connections abounded for acid, weed, hash, oil, and the odd score of aMT, peyote buttons, yage herb, shrooms, 5meo-dmt, yohimbe bark, woodrose seeds, uppers, downers, powders, poisons... ah well, live and learn... (of course, not everyone managed those two tasks  ...) (but most who did live managed to learn... something...)

My friends used to eat mushrooms all the time, but I didn't even start drinking til I was past 19. When I was twenty I started smoking weed, and did so for a year or two until I decided that I wanted to try something that would produce vivid visual hallucinations. I did not want to try LSD, and the dried up shrooms that the dealers sell looked and smelled like garbage.
A friend of mine tried growing back in grade 10, but failed miserably. I thought I might as well give it a shot and ordered some spores. After folowing the PF Tek, then breaking up the cakes and mixing them with dirt and newspaper in large styrofoam coolers with clear lids, I had an anormous crop of Puerto Ricans. 43 grams.
My best friend and I had decided that we wanted a true "Inca" trip so we promptly picked the PRs (they hadn't even matured yet and we thought they were SUPPOSED to have big bulbous heads) and ate 14 grams each. They were fresh, clean, and had a wonderful taste. To this day I refuse to eat dried shrooms.
The next 5 hours were some of the most incredible of my life. It was an E like high surrounded by amazing visuals. I live in a loft with a 14 foot ceiling and having the spaciousness was wonderful. At times it looked like the ceiling as 100 feet away, the counters melted, my carpet became and ocean, and the white plastic walls of my shower had faces pushing out from behind. Out my windows was a different spectacle altogether. Bright lights, fuzzy buildings, and all kinds of intricate imaginary metalwork abounded.
To this day I haven't had a better time.

The first time i did lsd i did about 8 hits, stayed up for 2 days, and was wigged out for like a week, i was only 14 years old. Also if anyone else happens to have 2 different types of shrooms dont eat them everyday(fall season), kinda makes you feel like your gonna die.

Got bored with pot and remembered hearing about "magic" mushrooms at school. So I thought it was great that you could eat a mushroom "I love to eat edible mushrooms" and also get hallucinations from it. First trip i didnt eat enough and only got one visual and alot of fucked up thoughts but my second trip took a hefty dose and got EXTREME visuals and kept telling myself, "I am actually trapped in a world of psychedelia" haha

PsyFlux: Sounds Just like me. I'm getin a little bored of weed and its hard trying to battle off using it as a habit all the time. I've never tried LSD or Shrooms but I think I can now get LSD. Its hard coz i am a bit younger  Speed is also available but coz of its addictiveness I'm kinda not sure.

My parents were big time hippies, but I didn't smoke pot until my Senior year in high school. Then I smoked it off & on for about a year and LOVED it, but when I got to college, my goodie-goodie boyfriend hated drugs. So I only got to have a couple of joints over the next 5 years. Then, I ran into joe666 at a club about 2 years ago (we've known each other since we were 9) and we started dating. I was THRILLED to find out he smoked weed. I, being a closet pothead, toked up everyday with joe666 and we started talking about drugs. I said, "I will NEVER do acid or coke or anything like that." Then one day, my best friend and I had heard some of our friends talking about they were "rolling" and wanted to find out what it was. We found out it was XTC, and decided we'd better try some. So after I rolled, that was it. I quit drinking alcohol almost all together. I LOVED ECSTASY!! So one night joe666 & I were sitting in the floor of our bedroom, rolling & listening to tunes and I looked down at the rolling plate and it looked like teeny-tiny mexicans dancing in front of a mexican restaurant. Holy hell!!!! I was tripping!!! I thought it was so cool and told joe666 and he said, "If you like that, you'll LOVE acid". So sure enough, when we got ahold of the one (AND ONLY) hit I've ever had, I loved it. Not as much as I love XTC, but almost! So we grew our own shrooms. After I started tripping, I realized the most horrendous, heinous crime against nature was occurring: I WAS FUCKING ALLERGIC TO SHROOMS!!!! My eyes puffed up and started watering so bad tears just continued to stream down my face. My sinuses stopped up and I couldn't breathe right (like I had a cold, not like I was going into respiratory failure). But, at least I have X, and hopefully one day again, I'll get my hands on some acid.
So, I owe it all to my honey, joe666 for showing me the way and doing away with all the propaganda bullshit my hippie parents tried to tell me so I wouldn't turn out like them. Oops!

I was at a house party, and I was pretty damn stoned. My friend says "hey fool, you wanna split an eigth of shrooms?"
I was like "I'm down."
And that was that....
Crazy visuals, everyone looked like cardboard cutouts, and the skinny trees were running around and hiding behind other trees. When I was walking home at like 5:30 in the AM, i started hearing children's voices in the bushes next to me... wierd stuff. Oh, and supposedly I had an hour long conversation with 2 girls (seperately) and they both thought i was the coolest guy. But, I can't remember even meeting them... oh wells

Yep: DARE made me WANT to do drugs. At that time my step-dad smoke the bud, so smoking pot was not on the list due to the smoke odor( now I love it!)...BUT LSD was it. It was the only drug (excluding PCP)that was abreveated and was a Hal-lu-cin-a-gin.....YOU MEAN ME sight GETS MESSED UP? cool

acid: since i can find extremely easy lsd blotters or liquid in my country and all my friends have tried i decided to taste it:-) and i did:-)

oh yeah, back in the late 60s the authoritarians were coming out with these classic scare tactic films (like the old "reefer madness" flicks, but for lsd...) --- and we all had to attend these movies... the antidrugs ones and the scary driving ones (like "signal 30" --- blood on the highway, drunk kids, guys goin thru windshields, sheesh...) & one of the anti-dope films ahd these longhaired wierdos sitting around a campfire and muttering something & ritually touching some egyptian-looking magical amulet & generally looking rather strange & the narrator said takng LSD will make you see things that aren't real & start to believe in magickal wierdness --- & i figured "hey, that sounds pretty good to me!!!" & so i was primed to check it out... and did eventually (not in high school tho; i was in college & like 19 or 20 years old) --- but y'know, i probably still could have waited (& i might have gotten out of university in the standard 4 years instead of, well, quite a bit longer, hehheh...)

& now my kids' friends are tokin, & some of 'em trippin' or rollin' ... & i tell 'em i would like them to get educated about what they are doing (wish i had studied the stuff quite a bit more before i decided to start gettin into it...) & maybe ummmm pace themselves (ya don't have to do too much of everything before you turn 18, ok?) & somehow survive the learning curve so that they can "make it" as young adults ('cause in my circle, back in the early 70s, not everybody did survive... some mental casualties, & some just plain died because of bad decisions...)

Ha, Sounds like mine I posted earlier. I think that those anti-drug commercials and propaganda lead about as many kids to drugs as it keeps away. I heard from my two friends at separate times that those anti weed commercials they are playing nonstop ("Your friends are out having fun, and your stuck at home, because you smoked pot, and got caught by your parents") didn?t help at all.
There are more people smoking weed now then before the commercials. They both said they saw something on the news about it.
Anyone else heard this?

My parents gave me acid when I was 6 and I loved it. I didn't trip again until I was 15 when I could get it through school. I'm now 20 and I have been taking vacations ever since.

I was just curious about psychedelics, so I asked my parents what they where like, my parents explained it the best they could, but they made them sound like it was all flowers and peace signs, so @ 14, I ate 1/8 and totally wigged out! That year I ate shrooms 8 times trying to come to terms with them, and by the years end we (the mush and me) had formed a useful relationship!

hmmm. started smoking pot because i wonted to get messed up and i wonted it BAD. i finaly did and wow it was amazing i could not stop laughing or talking. i was one of those guys that there first time they talk no stop and go up to people ad there like im sooooo high and laugh there ass of. like ive never laughed that much on pot before never and ive done it alot! i eventualy calmed down and wonted to start halucinating and thought it would be cool to see shit so i tried to get lsd because i wonted a full blown halucination but never could so i settled with shrooms and am glad i did cause that was plenty for me ive only done shrooms once because i havnt had the chance to do it again. i figure why not just let cid come to you so ill just be waiting and cid if your reading this stop by and give me a visit why dont you.

I always wonder how 3 year old threads end up getting bumped like this heh...
But anyway, fun topic nonetheless. My story is similar to that of EllemyshShade. I started drinking alcohol when I was 17, and did that moderately for about a year. Then eventually I became introduced to raves while I was 18. Finally at my fourth rave at the age of 19 I tried some E. I had a great time, and wanted to research all the drugs I have learned about all over again. I was pretty much a 'goody' I suppose you could say until I was about 18, and still had the general message sent out by anti-drug programs that "All drugs are bad, hurt you, possibly kill you, and are addictive".
When I went online through google to take a second look at the world of drugs, I found out the truth about many drugs. Mushrooms caught my eye, because hallucinations had always been something that puzzled me, and every explanation I heard basically ended up saying that you have to try it, it just cannot be explained. So I read up on mushrooms a lot, and what did I find? A pretty much harmless drug, that doesnt make you physically dependant, and is legal in a nice amount of countries. So, you only live once, I thought to myself, and this isnt gonna stop me from living, why the hell not? It was damn fun!
Nothing against smokers out there, but I love how harmful, addictive drugs like cigs are legal here, whereas something like mushrooms are not heh. Shows that both lobbying has a big impact, and that the general public has a very negative association with drugs pounded into their minds.

For me, i was desperate one weekend when i was still a minor and couldnt find any booze (alcoholic). I had heard of robotripping so i thought what the hell, i had heard it was kind of like being drunk. Well it turns out i had an entirely spiritual and life changing experience to say the least and now i am happily settled with psychedelics.

a bunch of my friends were doing them one day awhile ago, and i was thinkin, nah, i already smoke pot(and had done coke once), i dont need any more drugs. but when they were getting passed out, i decided to throw in a spare 15 bucks and get half an eighth just to see what would happen. i didnt expect much, i expected to see a few visuals, but didnt realize that they brought you into a completely different state of mind. i had a great time. my consciousness had completely changed. i didnt think anything like that was possible. i was in awe. i was so amazed by what they did to me i decided i wanted to try every drug i could find, hoping i would find something else as amazing.
i tried every drug i could get my hands for like 6 months, i went through a lot, tussin, e, k, nitrous, opium, salvia, speed, a ton of various pills, and copious amounts of marijuana. i definitely made some stupid decisions, but i dont regret any of it. after i realized what i was doing, i realized that hallucinogens were the only drugs that were good. all other drugs are like been there, done that, moved on. nowadays i'm just happy with some weed and the occasional trip and roll(although i think i'm almost done with ecstasy, probably only gonna do it twice a year from now on for the 2 big raves i'm going to be going to every year till i eventually grow out of them).
only drugs that i'm interested in that i havent done yet are acid, peyote and dmt. i'm sure that all 3 of them will find me when the time comes.

Summer of '76 three of us drove to the pacific side of the canal zone from Miraflorez locks where we were stationed at. The shrooms were big and plentiful and I tried to be the boss and said don't eat them untill we get past the Panamanian gaurds at the checkpoint (I didn't know the effects) .But these guys had wide grins as we drove thru. I was up for like 24 hours feeling fine and I left an ammo can full of shrooms for the guys who came on duty monday morning. I felt I was doing a favor by leaving shrooms floating in inky soup on the table

I really believed a lot of bad stuff about lsd/mushrooms. I remember hearing about "shrooms" in like grade 7 and thought "drugs...BAD!". I honestly didn't hear of lsd until like grade 10 or so. And back then, I knew it only as acid.
I thought to myself, "god acid. Why the hell would someone want to eat acid?! morons. Probably eats away your brain" 
I thought this up until grade 12 pretty much. And I'm so ashamed, but I can't turn back time. I started smoking marijuana in my senior year a lot. I enjoyed it so much. My smoking buddy would mention from time to to time about wanting to try mushrooms. I was sort of up for the idea, not knowing anything about them, but it never happened.
Eventually a friend with only 1 trip under his belt told me a little more about them(still a lot of bullshit, but enough to intrigue me)...and that's when I had my first trip with 4 dried grams. A very intense experience that has changed me for life.
After that I went full out into research on all psychedelics and I learned a lot of amazing stuff. Same time I discovered the shroomery and erowid. Then it was me, 6 months later, convincing my friend to try lsd with me.

my girlfriend got me into it. she really wanted to do acid with me, and i agreed, thinking it would probably be like weed or something. i can't imagine my life without psychedelics since then.

I was pure till college. Of course I'd smoked cigs and got drunk a few times in high school, but it wasn't till fall of my freshman year that I got stoned for the first time. My roomate was all into drugs, and I had no other friends, so I eventually hung out more and more with him and his friends. They naturally became my friends after a few nights out drinking and carousing. They would always smoke pot or do some other stuff, but I always declined, initially. Eventually I tried taking a hit or two to see if anything happened of weed and to try and fit in, but didn't get high.
So one day my roomate called me out on it, and bluntly (no pun intended) said that he was going to get me high. Proceeded up to his connects room, where I smoked the last of some very heady nuggets all the way from Chi town. (Me living in PA). Needless to say, after finishing off those bowls, I sunk into the bed and had some crazy CEVs, and wierd feelings. Thought it was awesome and turned into a drug fiend at that moment. Not that I was addicted, I just jumped on any chance to smoke up or try new things. Did E, opium, adderall, and some other pharmies we could get our hands on till the semester ended.
To make a long story short, although I went drug wild, I still maintained good grades from the head start I got while remaining drug free, and never completely blew shit off and didn't do to bad in college. My roomate withdrew due to partying so much, so it was just me and two friends left, everyone else was gone. Life was kind of depressing most of that semester, but spring rolled around and I jumped at my first chance at getting shrooms. Bought shrooms for at least $15 bucks more than I should have per 1/8, but whatever, I had money and an apetite for new drugs at that point. The shrooms weren't even that strong, but they did give me a glimpse to the psychedelic possibilities.
I have now graduated, but am still seeking a real 5 of a trip. Have had many crazy encounters through the years, but am still seeking that elusive plateau. Even though I should have hit it by now, fate has not allowed me, but I believe the time will come when I least expect it.
