casing question

plan on following the directions for making a casing from thehawkseye.com. I was going to use the 50/50+ method and already have all the supplies. My question is, how important is it to sterilize or pasturize my peat? Does it need to be sterilized, or will pasturizing it suffice?

Sterilize it. It will take a lot longer before its starts to contaminate.

HAY,DUDE
Ive done my first casing also using horse dung
an verm, I cooked it in an old food warmer that gets up to210 or so
I just added water about 3 quarters the way up substrate mix,boiled
untill the wright texture,not to wet!! then put in ziplockbag an transfered
to cleaned 4inch tray, covered an incubated for a week till collenized surface.
this seems to be working? I know peat has many contames,when Im ready
to use my aqua coir, Im gona bake it on tinfoil for 1 an half hours at 300f???
CAN ANY ONE ELSE ELABORATE ON THIS>>>>PEACE....LOU
