What the hell are you planning to do with one little test tube?
I hope you are going to simply use the mycelium in the test tube to transfer to larger media (jars, spawn bags).

I don't think your fucked, I think you will fully colinize that test tube.. Thing is that it is worthless to fruit a test tube because you will get mushrooms not even a centimeter long and there won't be many at that.
You should wait till the test tube colinizes then use that mycelium to transfer to larger medium.
If you need jars, Myco supply has some good ones.

I don't know why you are using test tubes.
your not going to be able to get colonized substrate out of that very easy.
and the ammount that you will get out will be very minimal.
where did you come up with using a test tube?
and I don't see any mycelium growing in that test tube.
you really need to use jars or mycobags...
and follow a tek.

alright, what temp should the test tube be at? and if we are goin to transfer into larger medium after the test tube is fully colonized, (which will take how long?) we could use just mason jars cant we, and what should we add to the mycelium in the larger jars for optimal growth?

if u take a second and read everything in those linnks u will know everything you need to know..... THere is no point in typing up the exact same information that is in those links. Use that little mouse button of yours, click the links and start READING!
But just so you know... you should incubate at 75-82 degrees... they love that temp, 70 is fine too, so is 65, 75-82 is just optimal and anything more than 82 and they start to kill themselves with the heat.

I think 80-90 degrees. Here us a chart. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/files/06-11/258028598-temp.jpg

It may take a week or two, maybe 3.

I prefer the wide mouth jars because the mycelium will make the grain clump together in one mass and if the mass is wider than the mouth of the jar, you're gonna have to smash the jar to get the mycelium out.

Just make sure it's around 89 degrees and you should be fine, there is nothing to add after the mycelium are transferred to a new substrait.

89 degrees is TOO hot, this will harm your mycellium more than help it. Mycellium, although small, produces quite a bit of heat. IF you have your room temp at 82 the mycellium is prolly really close to 86 which is 100% optimal. Thats why I say anything higher than 82 is too much because of the heat the mycellium is producing....
89 is pretty much the same as having a room that is 67, not that great of an idea its too much.

what are you talking abou, I was wrong about 89, the best temp is 86, but 89 is not way too hot. I read a chart saying that mycelium grows best at 86, its in the link.

MAGnum...you are correct...it does grow best @ 86...but only takes a room temp of about 83-84 to reach 86 degrees...the mycelium itself produces heat, which will heat the jars upto 86...if your room is 86 degrees, its likely that the jar temsp are 89-90...

yes 86 is optimal and im not saying its a bad idea ot have your room at 86 degree but you have to remember Mycellium produces heat Mycellium produces heat Mycellium produces heat Mycellium produces heat Mycellium produces heat Mycellium produces heat
this is why 89 is too hot because even though the air is at 89 the mycellium is probably closer to 92-95 (depending on how thick the mycellium is). Obviously the middle of hte mycellium is the hottest. I say 86 is great, but 82 is better because of the heat the mycellium produces on its own.
Oh also I just remember that those higher temps also induce contams. Contams like heat, 86+ air temp increases your chances for cotams, and it can dry out what ever the mycellium is colonizing and slow it down. I say anything from 70-82 is wonderful.
And i dont claim to be a pro by any means. I just want to get the right information across. Roger rabit set me straight a few times when I was giving bad info, I try not to do that anymore. Read read and when you think you know everything read some more.

WTF LOLz how on earth? dude you need to do some reading! that is the damnedest thing i have seen all week. i just have to know what where you going to do with your coke vile with 1/2 a gram of bird seed if it did grow? and what is all that shit on the table bird seed crums ? did you steralize the grain ? and what is that finch seed ? finches may be wild , but is not wild bird seed . maybe you should just grow weed its more FOOL proof

just to let you know, i got the grain from a shroom growing kit, and obviously was sterilized, and i have grown weed and been very successful with it actually,

It's not sterile unless you sterilized that test tube and made the transfer in a completely sterile area, regardless of what kit that seed came out of.
