Alright, I understand you have a 3 layer sandwich in a pan. Then you cover that with some saran wrap and poke holes in it. But now what? Do you incubate it? if so, what temps am i going for? How long does the cover/saran wrap need to be on? b/c i don't see how the shrooms could grow large with a lid on... i don't know if the humidity still needs to be 85-90% when the shrooms are growing out of the pan.
oh yeah, another thing. I have a pretty coarse type of vermiculite, is that gonna be ok? if not, any way i can get it finer? I can't find any of the fine type up here.
any help would be great.

You would put it back in the incubator after applying the casing layer.....or layers. Some strains you don't need to put backinto the incubator after casing. Puerto Ricans, South American strains you wouldn't for example....cause they overlay. So you would use incubator temps til the mycelium breaks through the top casing layer....so 80 to 85 degrees.
You should leave the cover on the casing til you birth it in the fruiting chamber.
After birthing the casing into the fruiting chamber you want high humidity 95% or higher til you get pins.....then you would lower the humidity to 85-90%.
Your Verm is probably ok.....if you are really worried that it is too coarse you could put it in a food processor and hit the on button a few times to make it smaller. Just don't make it too small.
good luck!

hi Alien bro!!!
good to see ya!
Verm isn't a problem to get in Seattle. I buy 4 square foot bags of it at Home Depot in downtown Seattle. The 4 square foot bags last forever.....lolzzz I guess I have just been lucky.....seems like every store has Verm in my area.
and yes I mess around with millet and Rye grain too. I get most of those supplies from a Feed Store in Renton. they even Deliver.....lolzz
The closest Walmart to me is in Renton....15 miles away....and I haven't tried to get Verm there....they do carry all the jars in stock
If someone was having a problem getting Verm......I suggest going to your local Hardware store and asking them to oder it in for you. I know True Value will....they have for me in the past.
take care!
