I was wondering if anyone has used Direct TV satellite internet and could give me any insight I am considering subscribing to it. I've Googled for some reviews etc but just find more ads for it.
Thanks for taking time!!!

so fucking costly and they limit your bandwith depending on how much you pay per month, i think that it fucking sucks and that cellular internet for the same price is much higher quality

I have all of the channels, except the Cinemax channels and it only costs me around 65 bucks. That includes the international channels(EDIT-History International, Military Channel, and a couple of others that I can't think of) and the special kids channels(EDIT- Noggin, NikToons, Boomerang, etc).

Bandwith, usage limits, hidden costs???
Well try using dialup for like 4 hours a daily and feeling like you've wasted days of your life waiting for pages to load just to do online banking and crap like that.
I don't think celluar internet is an option out here yet, I get a zero bar digital signal but still have service will that work? I called the local phone company to inquire about DSL and was told 2011.

I understand Direct TV provides great service for television but I am considering them as a internet provider and want to know more about that aspect of their business.

I had it when I first moved into the boonies, I didnt know DSL was available here since it wasnt in a large city I moved from, anyway, you pay around a grand for the dish and installation, about $80/mo for limited bandwidth, if you excede your usage they choke you down to the speed of dial up, I exceeded mine in the first day. after a couple weeks of fighting with them on what 'unlimited internet' means I had them come get their shit off my roof, the only benefit I got was that the TV reception was better
if DSL isnt an option, have you looked into cable internet?

No cable internet, no radio no nothing, this is a last resort but sounds like too much of nightmare. I know I'll use the bandwidth too fast, thanks for the report how long ago was this?

My uncle use to install satellite dishes around Steamboat, and he did satellite internet for a while. He got a free subscription for working for them.
His internet was really fast downloading, but it couldn't upload for shit. You couldn't play games or anything over the connection because the lag was REALLY bad. If you don't play games or anything, it might be ok. That was like 4 years ago, and the technology has probably changed since then though, so you should probably more advice.
And limited bandwidth sucks. What the hell do they think this is, the 90's? Porn takes a lot of bandwidth!
