premature pinning -- keep picking them or quit it?

i have a 5 sq ft tray of straw/casting (cased with coir/verm) that is about to pin. there are hyphal knots everywhere! today i saw the first pin (in the early morning). and now tonight (1am) i noticed a couple more pins have formed. the first one was in one corner maybe two or three inches from the edge (and when i pulled it out a couple more pis came out with it from slightly under the surface -- they were all a few millitmeters tall). the others (i think three) are in a cluster a few inches from a different corner (same size). all the other hyphal knots dont seem to be doing much yet so i think maybe i should pick the new pins too. ill leave em till tomorrow. but how serious do you all get about the premature pins? do you let em grow or do you pick em quick? maybe if i keep the humidity at 100% the pins wont grow too fast and then new ones will form? then in a few days i can drop it down to the low 90s...? i have done a number of casings and this is my first real bulk tray. i have always waffled about the premature ones.

Dont pick 'em dude, the fact that the one that you pulled out had others attached to it from underneath the casing surface probably means that there are many pins under there which will emerge within a day or two. It is very common to have a few 'early risers'. I have never seen a casing pin perfectly evenly all the way across its surface within a single 24 hour period. Often, those first to emerge will become the largest specimens from the flush; the fact that they emerged early indicates some exceptional vigor so let 'em go! Ciao, BeautifulDay

pins only a day apart are fine. If anything some of them will just abort.

sweet i checked it the next morning and there are pins fucking everywhere. all it took was a 10 degree drop in rH to boost the vertical growth.
