Growers and hunters - your help is needed!
    #6343955 - 12/07/06 09:54 AM (17 years, 5 months ago)

I write this on behalf of the  FSRC - Free Spore Ring Canada and the  FSRE - Free Spore Ring Europe.

These small orgs supply spore prints to the general public for microscopy purposes only for a small fee. They rely on donations of sporeprints to keep going, because when you don't got it - you can't distribute it.

The Free Spore Ring Europe but especially the Free Spore Ring Canada are in DIRE NEED of sporeprints of Psilocybe and Panaeolus species. This is where you come in!

All it basically takes to make a wild sporeprint is to take the cap of a fresh mushroom, put it on a clean piece of paper with the gills down, put an inverted drinking glass on top of it, wait 24 hours and presto! Your wild print is made and you can dry your mushroom cap further to add to your collection of dried fungi

So all you basically do is separate the caps from the stems in the drying process, it needn't be more complicated than that.

If you've done this to your wild gathered or cultivated mushrooms, please put the prints in an envelope, write on this envelope the latin name of the species, specify "wild prints" (this means collection was not sterile) and if it was gathered from the wild - where it was collected. and there you go. Put this envelope into a bigger envelope , address this to the Spore Ring of your choice (or preferably send to both) put some postage on and send it.

You will do many aspiring mushroom enthusiasts a great favor and help to spread mushroom genetics across the globe.

One envelope with several prints already makes a great difference, especially for the volunteers of the Free Spore Ring Canada, who are almost forced to close their doors.

Don't let this happen. You got access to prints. You know now that making wild prints and sending them takes no effort to speak of. You'll help aspiring growers and the mushroom movement in general.

How's about it?
