i feel astounded, i dunno what the fuk i found today. but it was growing in sand in a barn, with hay and cow shit. it has an extreme odor resembling a cubie. no way. wicked black gills. and brownish monorly scaly like cap. they were growing directly out of the sand. i was tripping on lsa. so it was fuked up. ha. but nonetheless amazing to see these things. in vermont i havent come across any like this or heard of anything like this. so im baffled. the caps were huge too on some of them , and so stinky like cubes. i was just wondering if anyone knew anything about sand dwelling psycoactives that grow in barns in vermont. haha. oh and in late nov.? im not expecting much but any info is all. peace and love.

Actually, Psilocybe Azurescens grow from sand along the coast in the PNW, but, the chances you finding them in Vermont is pretty much slim to none.
You're gonna need to get more information on the mushroom.... pick it and bring it home and list all the descriptions that are needed to make an Id. Read these in the sticky post on the top of this forum.
What color were the gills? What color was the sporeprint? What was the size? Better color description and detailed description of the mushroom is needed.

yeaa.. sorry it was brief, i ws hoping for some shroom iding god to help me. i guess there is no such thing. but the thing is, they arent old mushrooms, but they arent fresh either, somehow in the sand they dried a little bit so they are at that wierd chewy stage. so this is just what i noticed on the ones i found
they are small in height, like 3- 4inches cap is light brown/sandy around edges and very light orangish brown in middle. also somewhat hemispherical during prematurity, then blooming into a very convexed shape. cap becoming very flat. gills are unattached and very dark purple or black.. crowded. def veil reminants stem is also fleshy, about 1 cm thick and tough, and same sandy brown color as cap. it has pretty straight lines on it. (vertical) on the inside of the stem it appears to be filled with fiberous strands that is reddish or brown. also. i think they grow out of a volva. but i dunno for sure. i found one in there with a volva attached, but it dunno if its the same mushroom. thats all i can descripe this mushroom is an EXTREME cubenesis smellalike. identical. its rediculous. oh yea. def sand dwellers. in vermont. nov. i hope this helps. yaaaaa

Sounds like a Lepotia... Possibly.
Whatever it is, its not recommended to be eaten.
I can tell you for 100% that it isn't active, so if that was your main concern, there ya go.

Maybe Agaricus if "gills are unattached and very dark purple or black.. ".
Sounds about right... Agaricus species have dark, free gills. There are still other possibilities though. I doubt that anyone will be able to give you a solid totally accurate answer - but I think it's safe to say that they probably aren't active.

this muhsrooms is wierd. it doesnt look like either the agaricus or the lepotia. but then it again it was dried out a little. but the cap is so much different from these. this cap is crazy leathery. and wicked tough. its not the puffy agaricus structure. its bendy and wierd, and im not gunna eat it. thanks for the help anyway but im looking for some other yummies now... hahaheeee

i think that there are a lot of mushroom species in vermont that a lot of hunters dont suspect are here. subbs are everywhere. gyms are too. and amanitas up here are very hard to find effective ones. so its really not even worth it. i had experiences with a single premature formosa, that made me feel like i was entering a different world. it only happened once. and i tried them 10 times total probly. the gyms up here did nothing but make me vomit. so i dunno, i think i need to move.
