I'm saying if they want this to bring us the completed work.. I'm willing to try anything, but if it doesn't work it will simply be removed.
I'm keeping an open mind, but I still think this won't be beneficial.
Sort of how creating the Thunderdome forum proved a point to all people who thought it was a good idea.

If there is a way to have this only happen say to users who have 25 posts or less I think it would be alright...
Off course this won?t be a permament thing to show up.
It would only show up until the user has 10 posts in the Mushroom Cultivation forum.

well, besides all the points made earlier on why it's a bad idea....it is sure to crash my mac's browser......some shoddy java script with pop up windows.....
it's just a bad idea.....and not bad like the thunderdome....thunderdome was harmless
no one is going to protest this new pop-up window thing thor.....newbie's are newbies and there will be no one to speak up for them......you know they aren't going to make waves....
i still think you should just quit letting people register...I mean if newbie's questions are such a hassle.....get rid of the newbies and make the nazis happy.....seems they are incapable of a) ignoring questions they do not deem worthy or b) helping a newbie out by posting a link to the FAQ or c) staying out of forums where they do not wish to help people out.

There is no need for a java script, the whole thing would be a php script off course, since it has to chack the database for how many posts a user has....

Nobody wants newbies to stop coming, just to use a little initiative before they post.
Maybe though, if a splash screen chases you away, then it would be worthwhile for that reason alone!

And by the way, I do try to steer newbies in the right direction, both by pointing out when they post in the wrong forum and by a link in my sig.

look vato, you have not taken my comments the wrong way so far, so i hope you do not now......I think you are more like I was than anyone else in this thread.
That said: let's examine your post....
my point is simply that I like to help and will continue to do so, but there's a lot
of duplicity that one has to wade through to get to the novel requests.
OK. Here is a fundamental problem I have. What is a "novel request" and who is to decide what it is?
According to your post, a novel request is a post by a newb that is worthy of response. OK, got that.
Acvcording to me, all newb questions are worthy of SOME response. Be that response a legit answer to a newb question or a remark like, "read the fucking FAQ/ Cult guide". There is no newbie question that is not worth a response.
When I came here, I saw some stupid questions.....and I was smart enough to know NOT to ask those dumb questions....BUT, I realize....(and this is where you guys are fundamentally wrong), that not everyone is on mine and your same level of learning; to assume so is ellitist.
What I am getting at is that this place, these forums, this way of teaching, has existed for a LONG time before any of us, including Thork....\\
and this way of teaching WORKS.
Simply put, if you feel strongly enough about changing things because newbie posts in MC piss you off, then you need to leave MC. SIMPLE. It is not MC that has changed, it is you. As such, MC does not need to chnge, you have changed and meybe you need to leave MC.
MC does not need to change because it no longer suits you....you need to change because you no longer fit MC
think about this.....
again, I feel that I am not being overtly rude about this and that my opinion makes much sense....thor even sides with me for god's sake....
