hydrated lime?

Hey everyone
I'm getting ready to make my own 50/50 mix, picked up peat, verm, 50 lbs. crushed
oyster shell (50 lbs. of crushed oyster shell? you must have a lot of chickens?this is for chickens right?)YEAH , YEAH. Anyway i get home late so all of the nursery's
are closed so i go to lowes they don't have lime in the garden center but they do have it in the lumber dept. with the concrete. It say's hyrated lime. It also say's to plasticize morter. Is this the same thing or no? thanks

No....its not.....you want hydrated lime...can be bought at hardware stores in my area.

I have a similar question, I checked at the True Value Hardware Store and they checked their book and said they hed "dehydrated lime" but no "hydraded lime" ! So what the hell is up with that? Any Ideas?

"you want hydrated lime" I've never heard of dehydrated lime I got mine at Ace Hardware. Just picked it right up off the shelf.

Yes its going to be in the garden section to buffer the pH in your soil, its not for concrete.

IF they dont ahve hydrated, ask for agricultrual lime. Make sure its derived from limestone and not dolomite. Also, make sure you get the stuff that has a magnesium content of less than or around 2%.
