What's everyone up to on this fine december evening
    #6330843 - 12/03/06 05:35 PM (17 years, 3 months ago)

I'm grooving to the JGB, drinking some Mad Elf Ale (Troegs brewing company....I can't find a good picture dammit!) and trying to write up a draft.

Chillin with the cats and dogs, going out to a concert tonight. Rasputina, at a small venue, so I'm excited. Should be some hot goth chicks there, I should practice my morose look...
Got to work in the morning, though.

What you writing, Dark_Star?

A comparsion/contrast essay on 2 poems; Stephen Crane's "Do Not Weep, Maiden, For War is Kind" and Julia Ward Howe's "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" - actually that one's a song, but whatever.  I need to compare/contrast them on 1-3 different points using literary devices.  I'm thinking heroic tone vs mock-heroic tone as the main one.  It only has to be a couple pages long so that shouldn't be too hard. Plus it's not due til friday.  Have a great time at that show man...what time do you have to work? I gotta get up at 4:30..the getting up part sucks, but after that it's all apple pie.

Yeah, good luck on the paper, shouldn't be too hard.
I gotta be at work at 6:00, and I take the bus, so I get up about 4:45. Early, fer sure, but that's work. And then I get a couple days off...

What's up DS? Ever read Crane's The Open Boat? Awesome short story

I'm sitting around waiting to meet up with an old friend from back in the day who I haven't seen since high school. He's in town getting "life training," whatever that means. He didn't specify on the phone excpet that it cost him a $1000. Should be interesting...this thing sounds like some kind of cult and he himself sounded a little "off" on the phone. Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions

Nah man, I have to check it out. There's gotta be a version online somewhere. Meeting up with old friends is great, enjoy it man. That "life training" does sound kinda strange....scientology maybe.  Let me know if it's anything really weird.

eris....what's for dinner?

Right on......procrastination is a bitch isn't it? It fucking sucks when you blow shit off only to regret it later and have to either bust your balls to get your shit straight, or say fuck it & bite the bullet.  What articles are you writing about?

i ate an 8th of some cubes.. it was interesting, i wouldnt say it went well because it was the closest thing to a bad trip ive ever had. My mind got into this loop of things i didnt want to think about, and i was also with another friend of mine who was a first timer and so i was sort of pre-occupied with keeping him chill to enjoy my own trip.. ive decided that its only solo trips from now on...

Ojibwe (or anishnaabemowin) is the language of the Ojibwe people, the largest group of native americans in north america.

Astrobiology is the study of the origin of life/life elsewhere in the universe.  VERY interesting stuff, but I have to re-learn all sorts of biology/biochem for the class.

I know what you're thinking.  And yes, I do study a lot of different things.

Ah, I see.....heh, I've been there myself, many-a-time.  My last high dose mushrooms trip was 5.1 grams, really good mushies. I got my ass handed to me on a technicolor platter.  It wasn't the first, nor was it the last time, but it was one of, if not the most thorough job done on me by a psychedelic. After that I didn't take mushrooms for a year, and then when I did it was around 1 gram, then the next time around 2.  Both trips were amazing, and much more powerful than I'd have expected off of such a small dose. I'm sticking with the low doses for now, and even that's every now and then.  I can't imagine eating an eighth and having to watch out for anyone....usually at that dose I'd be in no condition to do much of anything other than lay in a ball and spin the fuck out.

Wow man, that's fucking cool as hell.....that kind of stuff fascinates me. If you could steer me to some good sources for both of those I'd really appreciate it.

That's what's up man...that's a really good thing IMHO. I'm the same way..so much stuff fascinates me; I feel myself being pulled in so many directions at once.

eris;  :drooling: That sounds delicious brother, enjoy!  I've added peanut comsumption to my beer swilling.
