The Core
    #626958 - 05/11/02 02:54 PM (21 years, 10 months ago)

(after a long night of tripping on Thais)

The Core

Spiral fractals of uncertainty
Morphing endlessly into meaning
Then quickly whirling into sadness;
Joy, fear, hope despair.

Every convoloving nuance of emotion
Plucked like a cosmic harp string,
With the harmonic overtones
Carrying me deeper into the mystery
With each successive reverberation.

Into the "what-might-have-beens"
Into the "what-could-bes".
Each fleeting glance down the hallways of possibility
Accompanied by an intricate lattice of color and pattern.

As the fury of the storm builds,
Each wave of energy knocking loose my handhold
Until the illusion of self is fragmented
Into a million shards which melt and reform.

"No more!" I scream.

Yet the noise and confusion increase
To an intolerable level.

And then...

The pulsating core of my existence.
The nothingness from which all arises.
The sheer delight of being!

The dawn breaks in vibrant splendor
And I am reborn.

The proof is in the pudding.

Hey Swam, pretty groovy.

I wrote this the night before last on somewhere upwards of 800mg of DXM:
--------
This body, dashed against the rocks,
The mind, thrown about the cosmos
The Puppeteer emerges
The human race is desperation
It needs to consume
It does not want to end

I traced my path of consciousness back to some unknowable entity.
Why shouldn't I be standing on two legs?
---------

Not quite as poetic, is it? Anyhow, that was all literal, at least that's what I thought at the time. (I was my own puppeteer, I was slightly appalled by the humans surrounding me in the game of life... you get the drift.)
The trip felt very Kubrick-ish, particularly like 2001- A Space Odyssey.

Take care of yourselves.

ps: don't worry Swami, I'm keeping an eye out for Olneys Lesions and the like.

Yours verse has a somewhat similar feel.

Never did DXM and never will. (no judgement intended) How do you compare it to mushrooms? Why would you choose a seemingly "lesser" ally? Accessability or just a completely different headspace?

How do I compare it to Mushrooms? I don't. I guess you could, in a way... DXM's shortage (not total lack) of neato visuals might be the biggest comparison.

Accessibity is in fact one of the reasons I use DXM, but not the only reason. Every plateau is useful, and I find most of them quite enjoyable.

On that trip I basically cut out the distractions I usually experience while conscious. I focused completely and viewed everything from a different place... It's hard to explain. I wouldn't call it a "lesser" ally at all. It's very powerful.

Did I answer any of your questions? The best way to learn about DXM would be to try it, though most people aren't into that idea. Jeez, this was tough Swami.

Oh, one more thing: DXM is very versatile. It's useful at any (non-poisonous) doseage, can potentiate or be potentiated by other things in pleasant/interesting ways, and is of course semi-legal, readily available, and cheap. How's that for a sales-pitch?

Swami-Was this the trip you spoke of a couple weeks ago that you said was very violent and you said your tripping days were over, or did it happen before or after? If it happened after that experience, what caused the change of opinion?

Peace folks.

No this was on Thursday. Did maybe only 2-2.5 grams - have done 5-6 grams in my younger days. Thought I was going to lose it again while playing online BG, so I pussied out and crawled into bed with the covers on and lights out. No music. The need for safety and security was paramount. Decreasing external stimuli helped me to cope much better. Got chilled and went through more of an emotional rather than a psychedelic roller coaster ride. It was tough.

Still have a lot of fear to go very deep. I fought the trip and had a lot of serious heart-pounding. Visuals and coordination loss were minimal. Except for dime-sized pupils, few people would have known that I was tripping after the come-up.

Finally, after the peak, I got up and played my keyboards all night and had a blast. I need to get some recording equipment as I know some of it was pretty phat electronica. If anyone here knows how to do a live net concert, I will play for everyone. I am just a hobbyist, but sometimes have flashes of brilliance among the noodling.

Then I went outside to the park to watch the sun come up.

There are few experiences that rival a sunrise at the tail end of a good trip.

Maybe someone's perceptual apparatus failed to see through the outer layer...

Why would that be the case?
I wonder...

That's a great poem, Swami. A lot of my trips take on the burn-to-the-ground, rise-from-the-ashes feeling I get when I read this.

Three or four cents on DXM: I've also had some very heavy, very meaningful experiences on DXM. Refined or synthesized drugs make me nervous, though, so I don't seek it out. Especially fruitful for me was often the following day, when I'd have the strangest hangover. I really liked my thoughts in that hangover phase. (As long as I arranged it so that next day was a free day!)

Oh, and the closed-eye visuals I got on DXM were amazing. I liken it to a drift dive, when scuba divers are dropped in a current that pulls them along past a reef shelf. You can't control the speed at which things flow past, all you can do is watch. I remember thinking, "Mushrooms are better, but these are the hugest hallucinations I've ever seen!"

While I can't verify your scuba referance as I've only been snorkeling once (in Hanama Bay, Oahu, amazing, should do it again...) I can say that I've had some pretty interesting closed eye visuals. Once while floating off with some music, I found myself among many jade symbols that I didn't really understand, but seemed almost to be a represenation of the song as it lumbered through my mind... Pretty cool.
