so i have a bottle of "purple sticky salvia" that is 40x from a head shop. using the provided dropper i dropped about half of the dropper under my tongue and held it there for about 20 seconds(and it burns like a crazy the more you do it) Nothing happens. So i keep doin this till about half the bottle is gone and if anything happened at all it was just me being a little more stoned from a previous blunt than w/o the salvia. why did i spend 50 dollars on this? am i doin something wrong hopefully?

keep it in for 15 minutes and swirl under your tongue
if nothing happens do another for another 15 minutes
also use mouthwash first to get the dead skin and stuff out of the way
and....
a tincture couldnt be labeled as 40x
for true 40x you would take say 40 grams and put 1 gram aside and take the other 39 and extract, and then evaporate but before its all evaporated you put the 1 gram back in
therefore theoretically the 1 gram should be as potent as 40 regular grams

Most reports I've read from the tinticures were rather lack-luster. But, what apparently helps is
- Giving your mouth a REALLY good brush, gums, under your tongue, etc, then rinising it out with a REALLY strong mouth wash (the kind that makes your mouth burn and its hard to hold in for 30 seconds kinda mouth wash). This will help with the absorption.
Then, hold the drops in your mouth (dont swallow or spit them out), for 15-30 minutes, 20 seconds isn't nearly long enough.

Dilute it enough to make it bearable. Then I would hold it under the tongue for 20-30 minutes.
Brush and rinse with mousewash if you want.
If this doesn't work. Don't give up. Try a quid with dried leaves, it may taste like poopoo but it won't burn.

I still think smoking it is the most effective way to dose. cheaper too. like 10 bucks a gram.

ive used 15x salvia dried leaf solid extract and held it very well (without realeasing it) under my tongue till i felt the effects. It was most definitely not a trip but it wasn't exactly the same as smoking a leaf, similar however. I ususally get a really annoying feeling whenever I smoke salvia but it passes a few seconds after the hit. It feels like theres some pressure in my head or annoying tingle, sort of, and it just bugs me and I start thinking "I hate this. I hate salvia. This sucks. This is not fun at all" but that passes and I loose all touch with reality and ego, ego doesnt even make sense in the new dimension I shatter into. The quid is good for relaxing and thinking, not the out-of-this-world experience you would have smoking the salvia. It took me very long to get my tolerance down enough to have a quid or leaves be noticeable at all, nearly 9 months. My first time with smoking extract though, I had a definite stonning but not the trips of my recent times. I never totally broke through until roughly 9 weeks ago when I had a mind distorting experience (but not visuals) and then the next time a full blown breakthrough. Just giving you some advice from a previous salvia-noob. Always hit the bong (or bubbler  ).
