IMO, shrooms CAN permanately ALTER your mental state. Mine has been changed in a good way but i've never had a "bad trip".

Supposedly, if a person has an underlying mental disorder like schizophrenia, taking any psychedelic can trigger and exacerbate it. So if you take shrooms or acid or anything, know that you could end up in a mental hospital for the rest of your life. I think i might have a little mental disorder myself because my friends allways tell me that i freak out way too much on all sorts of drugs.

shrooms haven't changed my mental state.
They have changed my character, in a good way

One thing I might have to add is that I'm one of the few persons with a mild form of Hallucinogen Persisting Perceptual Disorder (permanent hallucinations). They only appear when I'm tired and I focus on a flat surface with little relief/color variations. Usually the surface starts to bubble or float in a straight direction. It doesn't bother me that much unlike some other people with the same thing. Actually I have a good laugh at it when suddenly I see my ceiling bubbling again

i also have a case of it (fuck if it's clinical or whatever, I know what the hell is going on with me day to day). Colors never seem even remotely dull, my thoughts can often get really fucked up and weird, at times scary and uncontrollable (usually caused by any anxiety) ... I constantly see little patterns and the "red dots" i tend to always see on trips, they have never gone away ...

eh whether this is just how my brain is or whether it's HPPD doesn't matter, it's not how I used to be

Hmm that sucks. Dont trip more then once a month and only do it if you really feel you ready too.

hm, that's a bit more serious.
As far as I can tell it hasn't changed my thoughts and luckily I don't hallucinate all the time. 90% of the time I can't even see it no matter how hard I try. I have no idea why this affected me, I don't trip too much or something (only once a month or even less). Ah well, it doesn't affect my life so it isn't too bad.

does it bother you?
