is dunking a good idea at birth or only for later flushes?
also, if i dunk at birth and intend to cold shock as well, which do i do first?

Dunking is good after the first flush, however if you cakes are dry when you birth I would dunk. It probably won't hurt either way but I always do it after the first flush.

No need to cold shock...dunking is a good idea too. I would wait till after first flush though. Use the double ended casing tek...Its works well.
