Expired Cakes or casings

Hey my People. I was wondering...I want to take my old casings and dump them in my backyard near a compost pile. With plenty of shade and the numerous spring thunderstorms, perhaps I will see some activity. Any thoughts and or experiences with this operation? Thanks guys.

I've had good luck doing this. The tough part is beating the critters to your crop.
