Ecuador germination question

hi, can anyone tell me if the Ecuador strain is generally quite slow to get going? It's been 9 days now and still not a sign of any growth starting. The Amazonian I started on the same day germinated in about 3 days, and the Mazatapec in 4 so I know there's nothing wrong with the growing conditions or the substrate (as they're all from the same batch). I'm just wondering why it's taking longer. Bad syringe maybe?

I read that equadors should take an average of 6/7 days to see growth. Are you using PF Tek? Do you have Contams? Take a wiff of your cake- If it doesnt smell like mushies -has a real bad odor- then i'd toss 'em.
Good Luck & Happy Shroom'en

hey sorted i had the same problem i had two batches that i had to toss i found out that eq's produce their own heat more so than other strains so you have to put spaces inbetween the jars other wise they get to hot and kill them selves and contam their selves i had to put them in their own incubator away from the other jars for me to get any growth........once i did that i got mad..mad..mad growth i tried them on wheat/dung only wheat and dung/verm didnt get any growthuntil i put them on dung/rye they just took off i mean almost the whole surface of the jars are covered in 4 days.
hope this helps my incubator is at78 deg and 100%hum my substrate is 50/50 cow dung straight from the pasture and rye grain. it has worked the best for me.

I've had some jars take up to a week and a half for signs of life. Try moving the jars. Are they in a cool dark place now. Try an area that is a little warmer. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies. Yea I'm using PF tek, and no there's no contamination in any jars. I think I'll give it a few more days and then mail the vendor to see what they say. I gave the other Ecuador syringe to someone I know so if he has no luck either i guess the finger points to a dodgy batch of syringes.

I've grown out about 8 different batches of Eq's and they average about 2-4 days to show signs of growth with full colonization from 10-14 days

Hi StainBlue- I'm thinking about growing Equadors myself. If you have 12qt Jars packed in a tight incubator at 80f would they kill themselves-Can you start them in the incubator & after three days move them outside to room temp. -77f?
