The Ohio fungiphage need not go hungry, even in late fall.

I think I have a new favorite hunting ground. This is part of the Hocking River located in the Wayne National Forest in South Eastern Ohio. When this river floods several times per year the large areas of land between the S curves are covered with water and woody debris, creating the perfect habitat for Morels, Bluefoot, Stropharia rugosoannulata, and a myriad of other species that grow from wood mixed with sandy loam. I was really only scouting for spring hunting spots, and places to park my car (that always seems to be the most difficult part), but I was pleasantly surprised to find quite a few good edibles.
[Wood ears, Auricularia auricula]
[ Oyster Mushroom Pleurotus ostreatus]
[Late Fall Oyster, Panellus serotinus]
[Enoki, Flammulina velutipes]
[Brick Cap, Hypholoma sublateritium]
There are also plenty of Deadly Galerinas fruiting now.
[Galerina autumnalis, Galerina marginata]
And I also found some earth stars.
[Geaster sp.]
It was great to get out and hunt. I can't wait to see what this location will do for me in the spring.

I spore printed the "look-a-like" cyans that I have been finding all over San Fran. The spore print is turning out rusty brown. I guess those tempting little wavy caps are in fact deadly.

Nice finds. Have you ever tried brick tops? I had a wiki page on them somewhere, I think I made it in 04. With the new content management system, now the wiki portion is down.. I haven't check to see if it got moved over to content management or not and if it is still viewable.
Good job on the pictures.

No, I have not yet tried them. It sucks about the wiki being down, I hope the admins get it back up again.
I remember hearing something about CMS, but I have been too busy to keep up.

Well someone moved the wiki stuff over and linked to it from the cms. Here's the page I was looking for http://www.shroomery.org/wiki/pmwiki.php/Hunting/HypholomaSublateritium I see snoot added some photos
The photo got over exposed which makes the gills look white on that larger one, but they were actually a dark color.
I have tried cultivated specimens, but never ate any of the ones that I've picked. There are other red species of Hypholoma from what I understand so I didn't feel like risking it.
