I didn't care for Claypool and company's version of Animals. For one thing, Claypool can't sing worth a fuck haha. And it's also my favorite album so I'm gonna expect perfection if I am listening to a cover of it.

Aw man, you gotta here this version of Dogs by the Yonder Mountain String Band. It's Yonder + some guests, and is pretty incredible considering it was recorded live. This version is 18:18 minutes with some nice jams and good vocals. Note: the Flac is 100MB+ and the MP3 is about 20MB.

Thanks for posting that man. Personally, I don't care much for it but I do like to hear other people's interpretations of that song.

Love the song. Loved the Les Claypool version. Btw, if I can offer an opinion on general pink floyd covers. If you can make it unique but still retain the classic pink floyd sound, kudos, thats what makes it a cover, being different but familiar.

I can't listen to it tripping, mostly because of the lyrics. I've tried it before and it just puts a negative tone into my trip. The lyrics, while very meaningful to me, are very negative and cynical. The section in the middle from 8 minutes to about 11:30 of the song is pretty sweet to hear when tripping. But as a rule, I generally skip listening to Animals when tripping.

Dogs is the best song on animals but If one were to call it the best song period.. well then I'd be ashamed to like music.

That's a pretty dumb thing to say on something that is opinion based.....there's no real right or wrong answer on what the best song is because everyone is different. That happens to be my favorite song. If something better has been written, well then, I haven't heard it.
But, I'll play your game Mr. musical genious, what's better than Dogs, and more importantly, what's the best song ever written?

Ahem, professor musical genius.
Don't get me wrong, I love dogs. And I don't think any song could be called the best song ever written.
I'm not sure I understand the reason for your defensiveness either, but if I'm missing something and you meant to politely ask me what music I enjoy... well then I'd reccomend YES's album "Close to the Edge"

Yes, I meant to ask you what your favorites might be.....I was also trying to agree that it is silly to say that any song is the best written because one can never hear every song and properly judge that. So, I was trying to clarify that it is the best song that I have heard. If there is anything better, then I have yet to hear it.
Forgive me, I was fairly intoxicated when I wrote that reply, so if it didnt make sense then sorry.
And I'll certainly check out that YEs album. I have listened to a bit of YEs in the past, but not very much and not very often.
