Whats a good water droplet size?

Hi everyone, I'm doing some homework on water spraying/misting/fogging of mushrooms. My questions is, does anyone know what a good (proper) water droplet size in microns would be? I'm getting the impression that anything under 100 microns is good?
Any takers?
Lana!

I think that the droplet size in big facilities for watering the casing layers is greater than 100?m. But when you use a hand spayer, the drops will be somewhere in the range from 20-100?m (I guess)... So, depends what you want to use it for. If for fogging, they should be much smaller than 100?m.

Thank Anno,
Pinhead, the question is actually, "Who ISN'T measuring their water droplet size"
Many commercial mushroom farmers fog their crops. Why? Well its very important for them to maintain a consistant humidity level without forming condensation.
Condensation in a commercial setup can easily cause contamination of the crop, so with a little know how and tons of money:) farmers sometimes "fog" their crops. Many do spray, but even then you should have a fine nozzle to mist your fruits.

Dry fog is considered to have a 10-15 micron (volume mean diameter), wet fog (20-30 micron VMD), mist (30-60 micron), fine spray (above 60 micron), etc.
Applications vary, dependent the on the system, ambient air temperatures, and if the air is "still" when applications are made.
Generally, a commercial operation would want 20-30 micron VDM in still air.
