Depends on strain, temperature, moisture, etc. I usually see growth within 3-4 days, and from there it can take anywhere from 3 weeks to over a month with PF jars. Definitely not the fastest way to do this.

General consensus seems to be around 7-10 days after pinning has been initiated - more or less, depending again on strain and growing conditions.

Beats me - I think I've seen a comparison chart somewhere.

"why are my shrooms so small?"

Could be a lot of things. Why don't you elaborate on your setup a bit?

"where do I get vermiculite?"

Any gardening supply shop ought to carry it. Make sure to get it without Miracle Gro or other additives.

"what is perlite?"

Perlite is basically light, porous gravel. It's used to improve drainage in soil, and can also be found at any gardening supply shop.

Not really sure - I believe you're right, though - probabyl has something to do with PH.
