Vegetarian chili is off the chain for dieting. Lots of protein + carbs with low fat in a serving and easy to thaw out from a large batch for multiple lunches. So much better then drivin to the nearest fastfood. Go chili!!!

Lol... yea... meat chili is the shit... especially for the gaining season. Vegatarian for cutting season. Although I have to admit it's hard to make vegetarian chili that tastes as good as most meat chilis. But shit, chili all year around!
I like usin soymilk with vegetable protein, brown rice protein, soy protein, and hemp protein for gaining (and for cutting too).

I think it is Hormel that makes some incredible canned Vegetarian chili. It has soy protein or something similar instead of beef, but it is not like nasty tofu chunks. All it needs is some added fresh diced onion
I think I like it better than meat chili, but I haven't eaten meat chili in years. I'd like to make some with steak instead of ground beef... mmm

That Hormel vege chili sounds really badass, im definitely gonna try it next time I re-up on some groceries. When it comes to pre-made vege chili, all I knew of and have tried was the Smart Choice vegetarian chili. HIGH protein and great carbs + calories... and like .5g fat. Its got that real chili taste as well (loots of sodium though). I miss my mom's homemade meat chili though, on top of the U-shaped macaroni noodles... mmmmm and OF COURSE you cant forget about that cheese on top!

I just had a can of campbells chunky steak chilli earlier with mexican cheese sprinkled on. Twas alright but tasted a bit too processed... My mom makes some badass chilli... i like crumbling up cornbread in it and makin it super thick and ploppin it onto crackers... They call it shit on shingles... dunno if that's just a west virginia thing or not... Probably though...

Shit, homemade chili is the best. And, it's always better 24 hours AFTER it's done, not the same day. It takes time for all those complex flavors to meld together...
I make awesome chili... I may make some this weekend. Oh, I start with 6 pounds of ground beef. hehehe.

I went on a geology trip to central Texas this last weekend... we stopped by this Texas BBQ place in a small ass little city. I had some sausage and brisket, and the over-fatty brisket litterly had the consistency of chewing gum. The sausage was good but that brisket was pretty gross feeling.
The meat came out of a big 5 foot by 12 foot by 4 foot high brick holding\smoking container with a metal lid which was outside, and you lined up there while they open it, ask you what meat you want (its FILLED with meat) then stick it with a long BBQ fork, ask if you want sauce, dip it, then slop it loosely onto a cafeteria tray. Then you go inside and they take it, then wrap it in paper and slap a price tag on it (based on weight) and you get sides in little containers and shit. Pretty fuckin redneck... and the locals there were a trip! We asked this one guy if he liked livin in the country, and he said with the thickest country accent "Well I jus' donno whudda do if i was in da' city" it was great...

It costs about $40-50 and takes about 2 hours to make... but it makes a good amount, and can be frozen 48 hours after it's made. Here's my sure fire recipe.
6 lbs. 80% Lean Ground Beef 4 Peppers (Green, Yellow, Orange and Red) 1 Large White Onion 3 Wick Fowler's False Alarm Chili Kits 2 14.5 ounce cans of Del Monte Quality Diced Tomatoes (plain) 2 14.5 ounce cans of Del Monte Quality Diced Tomatoes (Basil, Garlic and Oregano flavor) 3 19 ounce cans of Cento Black Beans 2 16 ounce cans of Ortega FAT FREE Refried Beans 1 16 ounce jar of ShopRite Brand Salsa (Mild) 2 Tablespoons Chopped Garlic 1 big pot Clean and cut up the onions and peppers. I prefer big chunks, as they shrink when they cook down. Put all the veggies in a bowl, and add about half a teaspoon of chopped garlic. Let them sit in the fridge, covered, for awhile.
Spice Prep... The Wick Fowler kits are AWESOME, but it helps to have them all ready when you need them. The easiest method I found is to use 3 small bowls (one for each kit). Simply cut open all the bags in each kit, and mix them all up in their own bowls. You should be left with three bowls of spices, all ready to add later. NOTE: I throw away all the salt packages, as they are totally not needed... Use at your own risk.
Brown all the ground beef along with a small amount of chopped garlic. Make sure it is totally cooked through. DRAIN AS MUCH GREASE AS YOU CAN. I find that draining a bunch, then putting it back on the heat, then draining again works best. (I use a Wok)
Put all the meat into the pot... set the stove at about medium heat. Mix in 1 bowl of spices and stir until it's all mixed up. Next add the jar of salsa, and then a second bowl of spices. Add some more chopped garlic if you want. Let that mixture heat up for a bit, stir constantly.
Once it's piping hot, add in all the cans of tomato and beans. Mix in the last bowl of spices, and stir until it's pretty hot.
Mix in the chopped onions and peppers and stir it all up. Raise the heat to medium high, and KEEP MIXING IT UP!
After about 10 minutes it should be super hot and steaming... Slowly mix in the two cans of refried beans, and lower the heat back to medium.
That's pretty much it. Keep your eye on it, and make sure you stir it AT LEAST once every 5-10 minutes or you run the risk of it burning on the bottom. After about 90 minutes it should be ready to eat.
NOTE: This recipe is for the mild version. My normal version is about 3 Alarm, and requires the following changes to the recipe...
- Replace the Wick Fowler's False Alarm Kits with the Wick Fowler's 2 Alarm Kits. They have an extra packet of Cayenne Pepper. - Add 1 large Jalepeno Pepper with the chopped veggies. - Replace the plain Diced Tomatoes with the Jalepeno flavor. - Replace the Mild Salsa with Hot Salsa.
The rest of the recipe is the same! ENJOY!

Damn, my store stopped carrying my SmartChoice chili! Just picked up some of that Hormel vege-chili though, about to give it the test run. It looks good though. 12:1 protein:fat ratio, I like it!

chili is the shit. I've got one friend who makes some amazing homeade vegetarian chili. Most people never notice there is no meat in it.. it's so freaking good. I have another friend who is a crazy meat fiend. He makes some dangerously spicy chili that is comprised mostly of about 5 lbs of 3 different kinds of meat and some beans. Bacon, beef, spicy sausage.
