Cake transplant help..
    #627613 - 05/12/02 08:31 AM (21 years, 6 months ago)

hi all...

well , i have a jar that just got 100% colonized... and i was wondering , instead of birthing the whole thing... what if i cut a peice off of it and used it to spawn a casing..? first things fisrt.. what would be good to case with thats not dung... i was thinking more along the lines of birdseed... if i soaked birdseed (finch) overnight in water , then PC them in quart jars... added the developed mycilin to the jars , and placedin the incubation..would that cause a good colonization? if so what recipe should i use thanks everyone..

Sounds ok to me. It should colonize fairly well if the first jar had really good colonization time. I would do it with the one jar that had the best growth. Just make sure that when you do the transfer that you avoid contam risks as much as possible. Other than that I say go for it. You pretty much have everything to gain and nothing to lose. I actually did that myself with B+ recently (about a day or two ago) so i'm crossing my fingers that it works.

Finch seed is a good choice. I have a couple of strains on some right now. I boiled it for about an hour before I let it sit overnight. I don't know, I thought it might absorb a little more water that way. I do suggest letting it soak though. From what I have experienced it doesn't aborb that much water when you just PC it.

Peace,
