The whole thing was just awesome times a bajillion. They had said beforehand that they weren't coming on till midnight and would be playing all night. They played one afternoon set which included E. Claptons After Midnight, which got everyone amped. During the 6.5 hour set, they would take breaks one at a time. Trey would play an accoustic song like The inlaw Josey Wales ( which had a diff. name at the time ) so the other 3 could leave stage. There was one point during an ambient jam that Fishman left to take a shit and was gone for 15 minutes. At that point the other three started lookng at eachother like "John needs to hurry the fuck up so we can finish playing whatever song it was we started a half hour ago"
I stuck it out the whole set but people were just passing out in the concert field, I don't think anyone there slept in a tent that night. A guy next to me the whole time, had a mortar and pestle and was grinding up pure mdma pills all night and giving out lines for free. We had bottles of champagne and dank nugget joints for the issuing in of the new year. There was also a dude walking around with a bottle of ether. I tried some of that, it was just like fear and loathing. Feeling like the town drunk with no ability to communicate with your spinal column. All in all, an absolutely sick show. They played several songs with the local indian chief, that were only played at that show. Chi uhn tamo was one and there was one about an alligator or something. I also got to hear a few songs like Bittersweet Motel and Water in the Sky for the first time at that show.
I think I'm going to cry now

Oh yeah, and there were alligators running around the whole place.
It was like woodstock "Please do not eat the brown acid" but instead they kept making announcements like "Please do not swim in the ravines, please do not feed, or attempt to play with the alligators."
There was a forest of palms, where the had red spot lights way up in the trees and sculptures on the ground made out of alligator skulls and bones. Walking through there at night tripping was pretty freaky deaky, but there were tons of people sleeping in there on hammocks. I would have lost my shit.
I had brought my air brush and a compressor that I can hook up to my van and was doing body paint jobs on countless ladies. They were actually paying me to paint palm trees and flowers on their tits, my god it was awesome. Although one guy almost tried to roll me when he saw his girl's boob in my hand.

Widespread is good as shit, I just went to one of their shows in Virginia, fucking amazing jam band.
Hells yeah and then some. WSP is easily my favorite touring band, easily....and I put them right up there with the Grateful Dead and Phish as my all-time favorites.
Brewmaster...sounds sweet, my cousin traveled down to Big Cypress from PA and said it was absolutely amazing. I didn't get into Phish until the hiatus, and therefore didn't see them til 03, but as I said before, I'm so grateful that I got to see them at all. My favorite show was the 7/31/03 Camden one.....incredible setlist and awesome jamming. I missed the first 2 songs which sucked, but walking up the lawn section of the tweeter to the opening chords of Divided Sky remains one of the greatest moments of my life. Trey was just on 88.5, I'm not sure if you heard it but I thought it was great. Along with playing some of his new stuff and talking about everything he's into these days he gave some insight into what all happened at the end, and also said that he's softening up on his opinions on a reunion. Not that he said they're going to play again, but basically that it can't be ruled out.

I was at that show too..lol.
Jesus christ I hate New Jersey.
I know I just mentioned that I was at the VA WSP show ( I was the one selling san pedros out of a back pack) , but to be honest, I really can't get into them. They're a little more tollerable nowadays. I hate to speak ill of the dead, but their late guitar player, Mike Houser, was just bad. I go to Panic shows for the scene, but not the scene all the hipster kids would go to Phish shows for. I go for the people. Folks at a Panic show are there for the music. It's not like in Phish's last years where the lots were flooded with kids with no tickets, just wandering around going "Who's got my headies?" "Where's my doses?"
I will jack the next kid I hear say either of those. Panic lots are filled with old heads and people who (for one silly reason or another) actually enjoy the music.

Dark Star, I went up to New York a month or so ago for Moe Down. Mike, Paige and Fishman were all there but to my dismay, no Trey.
It's like, comeon, 3 out of four of ya are going to be in the same place, you can't just go ahead and blow everyone's mind with a surprise appearance?
I'll fly to the north pole to see another reunion show.

Hmmmmm, I loved Mike Houser. He was the biggest part of the widespread sound. I stopped buying their albums when he died, and im not about to go buy a ticket to a show.
He was one of the strangest improv guitarest I have ever heard. He built an almost visual archetecture with his sound. Nobody plays like that guy. He was also responsible for the band's moniker: "an honest tune with a lingering lead".
Its not a "silly" thing to enjopy their music.
Your right though, the fans are alot different than the phish fans of later years.
