After searching far and wide for a decently priced roll of parafilm, I often see florist's parafilm used for floral arrangements offered in a variety of colors and widths. This parafilm is a fraction of the cost of Parafilm brand. Just curious if anybody has used florist's parafilm and if it holds the same properties as brand name parafilm, especially in agar work.

In my opinion, twenty bucks for a 250 foot roll is a darn good price. That's about 5 cents per dish.

^^Agree with both of the above 2 posters. Cling Wrap is cheap and works. Buy a roll and cut maybye and inch and a half off (tube and everything). That'll work.

Make SURE it is GLAD CLING WRAP.
Which is gas permeable.
Some other brands of cling wrap are not.
Btw, Glad Cling Wrap is what  ANNO has used for years.
He is the one that turned me on to it.
Cut long roll in 1 or 1.5 inch rolls.

It's pretty thin stuff. How many layers to your wrap with?

You can also use masking tape. But I wrap the dish twice with it to be sure.

I've used glad cling wrap for years... I wrap mine 2-3 times. I've never used parafilm due to its cost. I personally think 5 cents a dish is expensive.
