why are you here?
    #626054 - 05/03/02 08:29 PM (22 years, 11 months ago)

i wonder to myself sometimes... ask myself these hypothetical questions...

if home is where the heart is... and the heart is an infinite void of unconditional love, then why did we leave home? why would love require pain? why would existence require observation? why would infinite be incomplete without something to compare itself to?

this quote gives a very general overview of Gnostic philosophy. it is from the Gnostic Friends Network. quite an interesting place, the author is very well-read and has an excellent sense of humor.

Gnosticism is an ancient form of alternative Christianity which competed with the Catholic Church for the first 350 years of Christian history. You've probably never heard of it, because the Church wiped it out as soon as Roman persecution ended, and the gnostic scriptures were not included in the "Bible." They were instead buried in a jar in the Egyptian desert, where they remained hidden until 1945. Ironically, many scholars now believe that Jesus himself was probably gnostic!

The Older Testament
The gnostics taught that God was a mad scientist named "Yaldabaoth" who had been created by accident and built the earth as a prison for pre-existent human souls. He cloned Adam, raped Eve, and kicked them both out of Paradise when Christ came in the form of a serpent to liberate them.

Yaldabaoth sent a "Flood" to wipe humanity's memory out; some humans were saved by angels from the dimension above "heaven" who told them what had happened. Yaldabaoth struck back by sending his demons to rape the earth women, smashing the tower of Babel, inventing money and selecting many false prophets.

The Newer Testament
Christ was a light-being above "God" who came here to possess Jesus, using him like a ventriloquists's dummy to teach humanity the truth: there is no "Hell" - the earth is the lowest plane, and we're just being reincarnated over and over. Christ taught humans how to free themselves from Yaldabaoth through sex magic, self-knowledge and secret passwords.

Yaldabaoth tried to kill him, but Christ switched bodies with an innocent bystander named Simon and flew away laughing while the Romans crucified the wrong guy. He reappeared once on Easter to the world, but he never stopped appearing to the gnostics, continually reminding them that matter is an illusion and the apocalypse is now.

Hehehe Very interesting. Maybe we are created by a mad scientist, but this doesn't mean he is God. We or I don't call god a mad scientist. For some people He might be mad! But we are simple humans for now, we understand shit.

I have definately heard of this before, and it is interesting. I have thoughts that this is hell. You can experience heaven here though in ecstatic states like ego loss. I believe that I keep getting reborn until I transcend this and escape the game, I guess into nirvana or heaven or something like that.

Peace

sounds more like a soap opera than a religious manifesto.

think how things would be different if that was globaly accepted like Christianity or Islam.

My belief de' jure (don't bother challenging me on this; I'm already about to abandon it for tomorrow's unshakable dogma):

The universe is a reactor vessel crafted by a race of aliens who stand outside time, watching, waiting, unconcerned for the patina of green crud (AKA "life") clinging to our inconsequential speck of a planet.

When all the stars have burnt out, they will come back and harvest the Nuetronium.

It's like seeing all the dimensions!! I know think that the universe is just one little point! Anyway the thing is that we have to understand better! WE HAVE THE POWER!! I FEEL IT!! Some very strange things happen in my life for a while.. I understood that it's us that can change everything! I look sometimes from high skyscrapes to people downthere and I see nothting but a bunch of ants.. SHROOM ON!!!

I'm here to laugh at most of you simply because you cant seem to realize whats going on here. I have been hearing alot of bullshit about ego loss, alot say that it gets them closer to god, what the fuck, are we still so primitive minded that we belive in god, i guess if we didnt though we wouldnt belive in ourselves, and we might disapear.

Why are we here?
Because we're here
Roll the bones
Why does it happen
Because it happens.
