I just planted 2 seeds in a pot, I got them from a top my brother gave me.
So I don't know if it will grow.
Anyway, how long does it normally take for a seed to start growing?
It's on regular dirt, and it put it in the window. 
Never done this before btw, do I need to let a friend of mine take a look at it at a certain time to check if they don't pop male? If so, when?

Usually it's best to put your seeds in a damp [paper] towel (not wet, just damp), and put it in a plastic baggy, then seal it. Two or three days later you should be having a little sprout!

But will that not greate mold?
And do you think damp cotton would be good as well?
And should it plant them then when they've sprouted?

Yeah, put them in a clean(wash it out) tuberware-like container & lay a wet papertowel over the seeds so you can see them from the bottom. I'd have more than two seeds cause chances are that you will only have a 60% germination rate. After that you'll see the emergence of the first little root.
1. Take a pot and run boiling water through the soil(kills germs)
2. Then run cold water through to cool the soil; making it ready
for the seedling you'll then plant.
3. Plant the weed!
4. Go to "Marijuana plant food" post

You can germinate your seeds just fine in damp soil, in fact it's better because you don't stress the tap root any. I germinate all my seeds in peat pots and usually have a 90% germination rate.
I believe it takes at least 4 weeks (usually 5-6) before sex shows as well.

Thanks to everyone!
My 2 little seedlings are resting in a new made bed of moist paper towel in a nice closed Tupperware box. It took some careful digging to find them back in the soil...
It's dark early here in Holland now so I'm going to put them inside the room instead of behind the window covers when dusk falls.
And I'll try to read up on the links.
I hope at least one will grow.. For my own motivation..

I've grown indoor. The only one I've ever used is Sylvania Gro-lux. Works great! They are reasonably priced $10-$15. And, no, incandescent bulb(regular bulbs) won't work for growing green they are NOT the right wavelength. Wavelength in the infrared spectrum causes elongation of stems(etiolation). This can be a good thing at first. This can also cause spindly looking plants that lack support.

Yeah, never use incandescent lights. They put out too much heat and don't give nearly enough lumens.
I use two 100 watt compact fluorescent lights that are about a foot long each. They work incredibly good and give off not nearly as much heat as a 250w MH would.

Both of them came out, and they are looking good.
When can I put them in the soil?
My friend told me I timed them wrong btw, 3 months early.

If you're planning on growing indoor, you should invest in some lights. At least a compact flourescent is what you need, but it would be good to go with HPS or MH.
If you were planning to grow outdoors, the general rule of thumb is to plant after the last frost of the winter. Of course there's no way of knowing which frost is last, but you could guess around march or april.
Also, if you mean that the taproot came out of the seed and your asking when you can put that seed in the soil, now is fine. You can put them in whenever that taproot comes out, and it has so you're good to go.
