Controversy

I was looking back through the various threads and noted how many read them and how many responded. Many here promote peace and love and "can't we all get along", which is fine, but seems that most thrive on controversy.

When I first came to this board, I was polite and gentle and got little response. When my tone became ascerbic and sarcastic, the flood of responses was enormous.

A few days back I posted a mini-review of a book about one man's search for enlightenment that I praised. No response. *Yawn* How boring Swami!

WhiteRasta makes a post about his dying which should bring an enormous flood of curiosty. He has but a short time left to share his wisdom and thoughts on life. No big interest.

Make a divisive post or about something outlandish and it will carry on for pages.

Conclusion: most come here not to learn or share as stated, but to be titillated.

I've also noticed this and you're right......this argueing seems to bring more of a response. I think too that people like myself don't always know what to post. I've got a learning disability and can't type really fast or put my experience into words as well as some. I can imagine some newbie, reading a few posts and saying, "Yiks!" And then not posting anything.......I also have limited time on the net.......

Actually, I liked it better when I got only a few INTELLIGENT responses.
I hope it is just a trend that will soon come to pass... at least, on this board.
