about substrate

hello guys. i cant find vermiculite in my town! i can only find brown rice flour. can i use ONLY this for my substrate? between all the things that i have read that i can use for the substrate i only found brown rice flour! can i use only this with water ?
and something else,i cant find perlite either! is perlite VERY important for me?

You need the vermiculite when using BRF (brown rice flour) to keep the cake from turning into a "concrete" block. Any dedicated garden supply store or nursery should have vermiculite. A lot of times the non-dedicated garden supply stores like walmart or home depot will not carry it. As the above post points out, birdseed will work without the need for vermiculite and will probably be your best bet.

you can then case with sphagnum peat moss or coco coir, can you find either of those? you live in greece right?

I bought mine from Blue Fairy Mycological supply, gave me a good deal.. Got my BRF there also. Hope that helps.
