can you have a good time being around tons of people while in a good frame of mind?

When I have the cash and balls, I'd really like to go skydiving. I will be sweating said balls off from nerves, but I will be sober.

Yes, I used to have bad social anxiety in any situation around people, but I overcame it in time. Now I am usually content and can enjoy myself around people. I only get anxiey certain times, for whatever reason. I guess it has to do with my mood and other factors.

Definitely. If you can jump out of a plane from the SKY, in retrospect...it makes everything else you're dealing seem like nothing.
in what term could we classify this as? desensitization? calibration? ..?
I'd classify it as mainly RE-calibration of the senses. It really keeps you in check. I plan on going back out in the next month or so for another jump.

i usually get anxiety waiting in line to big events but once im inside its all good. but most of the time my mood as well, is definately what controls or allows it to flare up. ive never had to take any anti-anxiety meds but i usually chalk these experiences up to just a part of life.
This guy i work with has pretty bad agorophobia, as well as being a paranoid health freak. he's never taking any OTC or prescibed drugs, he is one of those that has to be in 150% control of his mind, freaks out full blown anxiety atacks if otherwise.
i dont know about other people, but my anxiety attacks consist of a sharp swift reality shift, almost matrix like.
