i would say that you should wait until after 5 days then start getting worried. maybe your substrate way too hot?

I'm having the same problem(?).. I'm thinking my substrate is too dry, though. Does it need to be damp to the touch? I decided to check how wet they were by opening a jar and touching the substrate (yes I know its prolly gonna contam, i had to check tho) and it was barely wet at all.. This is bad, right? ;p Not even a hint of growth after almost 72 hrs.

just wait it out your jar should be alright as long as you washed your hands and didnt breath into it i had a jar take 7 days to show sighns then it passed the rest up you go figure how tight did you put it in there and how much solution did you put in? that sometimes has to do with how long it takes

I left about a half inch of space at the top on most.. a little more on the last few jars cuz i was low on mix.. They seemed pretty dry though, would it be worth the risk of contamination to open them real quick and wet them some?

how dry? they should be alright if they are a little dry i would case them later if they are almost bone dry you could put steral water into a syringe and just spray it in there it would be better than opening the jar but i would only do that if it was REAL dry

At least you wont have a big stinky mess   Yeah sucking sterile water into a syringe may work, you'd probably be better sterilizing a syringe that's already filled with water though.  If you followed pf tek or something similar to mix your substrate (put in the correct amount of water to begin with), then it should be ok.  It's not supposed to be very damp...

Yeah, prolly just me being paranoid.. I followed shroom wizards tek so far due to low cost.. i put barely over a cup each time for all ingredients.. was thinking maybe i didnt add enough extra water to compensate for extra brf/verm but.. i figure it shouldnt make much difference..

I was afraid that my jars were too dry at first too.
But once they started to colonize in the incubator....there was so much freakin water built up I go worried there was too much!
Dont sweat it. There is more in there than you think. A lot of it is in the rice.
