    #6248049 - 11/04/06 06:15 PM (17 years, 3 months ago)

Are reptile or food heat lamps in the right wavelenght/ spectrum for mushies? if either, which one?
If not, which is the lowest watt bulb, with the correct wavelenght, with a high heat output?
thanks!

I wouldn't think having a lamp in very high humidity would pan out very well.

They are the right kind, but you dont want to use it due to the heat transferred to the FC, increasing condensation on the walls of your FC. Save that heat lamp for drying. They will respond to your average overhead light. All shrooms need it for is so the mycelium knows which way to pin.

I would imagine anything good from a heat lamp I imagine it would either dry out your substrate or break from the moisture,I would even want to use it to dry either,Unless you live in a swamp you don't need heat do dry and a fan will suit you just fine,Well it does for me at least,I don't even use desiccant

I've read/heard blue wavelength bulbs are ideal for pin development. I used a IR bulb in my fish tank incubator, it sucked until I wrapped the jars in tin foil then they took off.
