Ok, I'm confused about bruising now...
    #6246216 - 11/04/06 07:18 AM (17 years, 4 months ago)

Ok, here are some mushrooms that I have been finding all over the place. Usually near blackberry bushes. I did pick one, and am in the middle of gettting the spore print, but I was wondering if any of you would be able to id these by looking at them.

Oh... and I'm used to the blue brusing on cubes, which is obviously blue. But these mushrooms here in Seattle are confusing the hell out of me. When I press on the stem it turns a brownish color, yet in another post I saw a picture of cyans that were brown? and were said to be very bruised?

Once I get the print Ill post it.

There are too many possibilities just looking at the top of the cap.

Are the gills light or dark? Let us know what the spore print comes out too also.

You should show all parts of the mushroom in your photos, that makes things easier. Multiple things can look the same from above.

p.s. They don't look like an active species if that is what you were wondering. I doubt they are anything that has any kind of edible value to it either.

Gills are light. If you look a little closer you can see the stems. Sorry about that though. I'll remember to get the whole mushroom in the picture next time.

It might be the wrong time of year for that particular species of Mycena. There are several species and some look very similar. Nonetheless, I do believe what he foound are definitely a species of Mycena, just not the one in the link.

Godzukie, they may have appeared brown.... As you get used to seeing photos of the Psilocin bruising, you'll be able to distinguish it from other inactive mushrooms. The brown on the caramel coloured caps of the cyans makes it look a bit brown I suppose.

One of those things that you can only explain in so many words, but experience is the best way to understand what I mean.
