as cheesy as it sounds, the book "Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz changed my life... or rather, got my first foot in the door.

Charlotte Joko Beck is a Zen teacher in the United States and the author of the books Everyday Zen: Love and Work and Nothing Special: Living Zen. Born in New Jersey in 1917, she studied music at Oberlin College and worked for some time as a pianist and piano teacher. She opened the San Diego Zen Center in 1983 and served as its head teacher until July of 2006. She now lives in Precott, Arizona, where she teaches part time

I agree with the above suggestion for a Beck book. Also, try out "Turning the mind into an ally" or "Zen mind, beginner's mind." Anything by thich nhat hanh also rocks.

Osho has helped and still is helping me a great deal. I think his postmodern outlook on spirituality really fits into this world that isolates us so much from the other.

Thanks guys, I already read Turning the mind into an Ally last year, I was having serious panic attacks and anxiety at the time because I was about to move back to the UK from the US and I reeeeally did not want to go. That book really helped me to get my shit together.

Buddhism Plain and Simple by Paul O'Hagan
Small book, simple introduction to Buddhist principles. Its pretty good, but perhaps you are a little further down the line than it reaches.
Or perhaps it is just what you need! Simple book, simple mind. Maybe.

Be Here Now by Ram Dass was by far the most spiritual book I have ever read.

Check out the Bodhicaryavatara, a famous Buddhist text written Shantideva, a Buddhist monk in the 8th century. It's a guide to the Bodhisattva's way of life.

Definitely the book with the deepest understanding of what's "going on" that I've read

The Tibetan Book of the Dead (green cover edition) The Art of Happiness by the Dalai Lama
Try those two. There are tons of great Buddhist books out there, check out your library or Barnes and Nobles.

Journey to Ixtlan by Castaneda
-------------------- "A warrior is a hunter. He calculates everything. That's control. Once his calculations are over, he acts. He lets go. That's abandon. A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda
