sterilization at higher elevations?

First time grower. Am having lots of contam problems using pftek boiling method. I live at 6000 ft and am wondering if i should just boil longer or if a pc is absolutely neccessary at this elevation? Any advice welcome and thanks in advance.

This from the directions to my PC, "at altitudes greater than 1,000 feet use 15 lbs instead of 10 lbs. pressure".

Hope I didn't confuse you.
