Temperature Issues

hey all,

well with alot of help from the community my jars are on there way to colonizing...
I woke up this morning  to find my incubator at 100F with 95% humidity......

I would have to assume it sat at that temp for atleast 8 hrs....

Am I ok? or did I kill anything?

Out of the 12 jars I innoculated, 6 of them are colonizing while 6 show no signs of growth.... It is day 7.

Just curious, dont wanna kill my babies :wink:

You should be fine, but you are toying with limits of what the mycelium can withstand. Get that temp down to the mid 80's (F).

Thanks man, I lowered the temp got it down to like 85F, I didnt realize I would have to constantly monitor the temp.. thought I could set and forget...
basically I was the idiot who left the space heater on in the same room as my incubator, so I assume that is what did it.... hopefully all is good.... Thanks for your help...

Once these guys are colonized and fruiting Ill post pics!! right now I got amazonian, Treasure Coast And GT in the chamber....

hey!!
i was leary the first time i made a syringe from my own print too. first i wasn't sure if the print was safe then i was worrying whether i made the syringe contam free. but it is not as intimidating as it appears. if you don't have a glovebox then use the oven tek and you'll be fine! you'll thank yourself when your munching down those amazonians.

what is oven tek i don't understand what you mean new too this and want to make valuable syringes.

i think it's in the faq, or myc direcory or whatever. But (because im nice) in short this is what you do...

set oven to 200,
open the door,
pull the bottom rack outmost of the way,
use the very bottom rack as a works space/glove box.

in theory the hot air rising off of the heating element goes up and push all the contams away, while the heat cleans the moving air. A glove box probably is better than the oven tek. But people get good results.
