If you really want some good info on this stuff, go to the hive and browse their security/server forum. There are some indepth discussions on internet security and several anonymous browsing how-to's. There are also several links to pages and pages of free anonymous proxies.

Dude, WinXP has more spyware in it than any other OS that I have seen! If you install ZoneAlarm configured correctly it will quickily show you numerious little WinXP files that ask permmision to talk directly to MicroSoft. (some are in the Win32 directory)Even if you have a program that locks up WinXP will ask you if you want to notify MicroSoft of the issue.
Now perhaps many totaly trust WinXP and MicroSoft to only use this information to improve the product. - I DONT!

Its not accurate to say XP has spyware in it.
But I'd advise:
"Start" -> "Windows Media Player" -> "Tools" -> "Options" -> and then uncheck the option "Allow internet sites to uniquely identify your player".

I have personally discussed this issue with over a dozen computer tech reps. I have never encountered any doubt about this subject untill I have brought it up here. (im not saying that the phone tech people are any smarter, just that all that i have spoken with in person say that yes xp is full of spyware) - Many of these people are personal friends of mine.
