Will refrigerated cakes still pin?
    #621904 - 04/29/02 01:13 AM (21 years, 10 months ago)

Ok, here's the deal:
A little bird told me that he grew mushrooms for about 2 or 3 months, then he had to stop and take down his terrarium because he needed the space for a new computer. He didn't know what to do with his cakes and he remembered reading in another post that if you cold shock you can just leave them in the fridge until there is space in the terrarium, so he put them in there. Now it's like a month or so later and the cakes have shrunk alot and feel really dry. Will they still grow mushrooms?

Ok thanks. There weren't any replies before I went to bed, so 3 out of 5 of them were put into the terrarium last night and are pinning like mad today. They had just been harvested before they were refrigerated though. I don't know if that would make a difference. Just gonna leave the humidity high for now and probably dunk the other 2 before they go in.
