Compost as a casing....?
    #622324 - 04/29/02 02:58 PM (21 years, 5 months ago)

I bought a bag of dry composted cow manure at the local nursury.....
Question is....will this make a good casing layer.?
If so....Should I steralize it in the oven for awhile first or PC it...?

I've yet to try this stuff out or really read about any experiences....
Thanks in Advance.......

Well Ive always been under the impression that it is more of bulk spawn substrate than a casing layer. Its good for taking colonized grain, spawning it into the pasturized manure, and then casing with coco or 50/50.

It contains nutrients which would sort of defeat teh layer of a casing, however Ive heard it does work.
