That's a wonderful video. I noticed echoes of a Kantian morality: duty for the sake of duty. His Categorical Imperative (act only by that maxim that you would will be universal) is essentially the same as the Golden Rule, and makes a lot of sense.

One assertion the video made is that altruism is genetic and was favored by natural selection. I question whether altruism is indeed nature or is nurture. Or perhaps, it is some combination of the two?

I do like their affirmation of life and the here and now by the rejection of some future fantasy world. However, atheism is still a fixed conclusion, just as much as theism is. Agnosticism to me is the only truly rational and reasonable attitude to take with these matters.

I liked it

you are correct and that's why i am an agnostic. i cant fully disprove a diety in general. however through history and facts you can pick apart and invalidate ANY of the abrahmic religions. also you can easily disprove the really stupid religions like mormonism and scientology

Oh noes! Religion!

Seriously, if only one knew that God is THE source of Compassion, Love and Kindness, the world would truly be "waking up".

This one's too easy

--------------------
“Strengthened by contemplation and study,
I will not fear my passions like a coward.
My body I will give to pleasures,
to diversions that I’ve dreamed of,
to the most daring erotic desires,
to the lustful impulses of my blood, without
any fear at all, for whenever I will—
and I will have the will, strengthened
as I’ll be with contemplation and study—
at the crucial moments I’ll recover
my spirit as was before: ascetic.”

If you are awake why are you waiting for other people to wake up?
