Desert is microb free??
    #621145 - 04/28/02 08:05 AM (22 years, 5 months ago)

I am growing in what might seem an inhospitable climate for the little guys- the desert. Although, I can't get cakes to bloom in a perlite setup, casing do just fine. Also, I am not overly sterile in my procedures- just do enough but my contaim ratio is like zero and I used to pick up and look at my jars like three times a day! I have read a thread a while ago of someone reporting the same low contaim ratio from a very dry area. Anyone else seeing this?

I agree also. Although it may be just dumb luck I have only had about three jars out of around 45 jars get contaminated. My cakes and casings hr work just fine and I use perlite.

Yeah thats true. The airborne contaminants dont stay alive as long in dry areas. Consider yourself lucky
