Jars too dry???
    #6207718 - 10/24/06 07:43 PM (17 years, 5 months ago)

Hey guys, I knocked up six WBS jars seven days ago.  I have some decent growth but it seems a little patchy, and a couple jars have very little growth.  My camera is outta juice at the moment but I will try and get up pics.  I just recently (yesterday) bought a heating pad to aid the growth and keep the temps around 80 to 85 degrees.  The thermometer I got showed me my temps were varrying between 73 and 80.  I was just wondering what jars more on the dry side look like when they colonize so I can find out what is going on.  And, even if they are dry will they still colonize fully since I already have some growth?  Thanks!!  :mushroom2:

I don't know what my humidity is, but they are in a luggage bag sitting on a blanket that is on a heating pad.

Yea mine are a little farther along then that sporeho. I used Doc's WBS tek. I soaked for about 12 hours then simmered for 20 min so I would think my water content should be optimal, it's just that when I see pictures of some the growth areas aren't so spaced out and they just look more rhizomorphic. Only thing I might suggest even tho I'm a newb is that maybe you don't have enough air exchange. But I have learned that patience is the hardest damn thing in this hobby! GL with your grow! PM me too if you have questions about anything. Later

Jars prepared on the dry side will colonize faster than wet jars. If you have visible mycelial growth from spores at 8 days you're doing fine. Don't try to fix what isn't broken. Room temp colonization is fine. (+/- 75F)
