Hello, i am basically following up, on an casing, that went flop. i am going to fill you in on the details real quick: i made a casing, out of cow shit, but i forgot to let it cool, so i put in 5 jars of colonized birdseed, in the burning shit, and watched them die in front of my eyes! ok, so the next day, i put in 3 more jars. now i was told that there is to much shit in there for just 3 jars, but they are starting to grow little white fuzzy meliculium on the top layer. i was told that i should just start a new one, with the 4 jars i have left, but i was also told to see how this one works out. so what im wondering is what you experts think i should do now. i have 2 options: 1. continue with my casing ive made, and dump the other 4 in there. 2. start a new one. but im also wondering, if i start a new one, will the cow shit i have meliculim on, be a good choice to put in my new bucket?? or should i just start from scratch?? if someone could bring some ideas into play, it would be greatly appreciated. thanks all rain

I tried the same thing and with bad results. The seed or strata that is in the case will start to rot and contams will take over. Cobweb mold will be the first or green mold. It's not a good idea to reuse the same stuff. Best to start anew.....

Is the mycelium breaking through the casing layer? If so you should fruit that mofo. If you dont believe the casing is colonized enough let sit for a few more days then fruit it. Use the other 4 jars to make another casing this time letting it cool before you layer it.
