Confused about UK Shroom Season

I was on a site about shroom hunting in Scotland a while ago and on the message board there was a thread from May 98-July98(the site is a tad outdated, dont remember the URL) about starting to find a few shrooms since they were in the North Of Scotland and it was colder. I think they were talking about Liberty Caps. I thought the season was Autum? Was the message boards date wrong or is Scottish weather really that bad?

I live in Northern Ireland, BTW.

generally - you're looking at an autumn haul in your neck of the woods... but spring liberty caps have been reprted with some regularity.

Where you are... it would be wise to begin your seach in late August / early Sept.
Sure temperate species can fruit at odd times of year... but it's not work banking on.

I found this rule of thumb to apply to most temperate psilocybes..

Assuming you live in an approriate area...

When you've been having dry, warm weather, like, say, SUMMER.. And then have a CHANGE in the weather - from dry to moist... AND temperatures drop ten or more degrees - You can get CERTAIN shrooms - regardless of the time of year. Liberty caps tend to be early bloomers in this temperature cycle. As are fimentaria and stunzii... while others like cyanescens require a bit more convincing.

I know that in mexico their are like 60 kinds of psilocybe mushrooms and the UK has about 9 and here in BC he he he
we are somwhere in the middle (well closer to the UK)
with 18!!!
plus I think BC has the most fresh water left in the world and the most trees
