I found a patch of green that is growing under a myc patch on my casing. It is on its first flush, and have quite a few small fruits, and a couple larger ones, but no veil breaking as of yet. Do I harvest the fruits now before it gets worse? The shrooms look great though...are they ok? I need a reply fast as I am leaving for the night and won't be home until tomorrow. TIA!

I would wait until tomorrow, harvest the fruits, and toss the substrate away.
the fruits are fine, they won't kill you. dry and eat as normal.

no.
you cannot just dig out the mold, no matter how hard you try. once you see green, it's all over.
peroxide in no way fights trichoderma.
you must be thinking of cobweb or something...
to prevent against green mold, work clean, have a HIGH amount of fresh air exchange keep the substrate and casing pH at 7.0-8.0, no lower.

The thing I've read about when peeps do try to beat the green , or in reality , delay it until they get some fruit , is an equal mix of salt and baking soda , I believe . Might be baking powder but I believe its soda .
It helps a little .
The only thing I've found to beat the green is outdoors .

I know of peeps using stright hydrated lime too.
all any of that will do is prevent the mold from sporulating, the mycelium will continue to grow though...

though I may have the wrong idea, I once tossed out a poo casing with green. Put it outside in the flower bed. The green turned form green to a dull gray and dried up.. Maybe the increased in FAE outside, or another contam killed the green.. dunno.

Are you trying to grow mold hippie chick?
I'd say the number one way is too much water, a soggy casing will grow mold pretty well.

low ph, warmth, humidity, and no air movement all aid in producing the perfect enviroment for trichoderma

The number 1 way is through un composted wood matter . So , yes , it comes in via pieces of uncomposted wood in peat .
I personally sift my peat twice . Once with a medium collander , and then a fine one . It's almost like dust when I use it .
Then I sterilize it . Haven't had any green in the last 7 months . And that was through summer And I can easily go 5-6 flushes .

I agree and I do the same.
I sift twice with peat. and it is very close to dust like when I'm done.
yeah peat/humus, wood matter is the reason. good question Hippie Chick, suprised more peeps didn't jump on that.

no kidding. dust everywhere. I wear an N95 mask, and it's totally brown afterwords.
I am pasteurizing and making only what I need. I live in an area with an incredible spore load and need all the help I can get.

and you mix your powdery peat with a coarse verm?
i powdered my peat once, but i guess the verm i was using at the time was too fine, because the consistancy was very dense and clumpy/muddy. the myc. had a hard time breaking through, so i eventually had to scrape some off.

I mix the sifted peat with A2 or A3 vermiculite.
I would call both medium, but the A2 is graded "large fine".
D3 is probably too small to use for casing.

I use medium grade verm and the crushed oyster shell helps a lot with the texture .
