I do the same thing, I always want to make sure my point comes across clearly. Lots of the time I edit so that the paragraphing in my posts looks neater, which I've only just realised is a kinda weird thing to do haha!

I definately find writing an "artform", my weird hobby of late has been to write well written letters to government agencies complaining about injustices etc. I have one case now (about age discrimination) that's gone to the Human Rights Commission, and is now being looked at by the Governments legal team. Things are looking good at the moment, and if it turns out I have a case the Parliment of New Zealand will have to agree to a legislation change and vote on it, which will be the biggest change to the system in the last 15 years and will cost them millions of dollars.

The power of the written word I suppose, I just think its awesome that little old me can write a letter that can go through such a lenghty process and change something as big as governmental policy. At the end of my efforts, (if I succede) I will get a one off payment of $100 (that I was unlawfully discriminated out of having :smirk: ), and so will everyone else who has been affected throughout the time the system has been running, which is one funk load of people.

I genuinely think writing on the shroomery has helped my letter writing ability, I find that especially true when it comes to writing reports in my studies.

I primarily re-read my posts while I'm making it. I will read over a post several times, editing and moving sentences around so my point is clear.

I have had times where I couldn't get my point to come across like I wanted so I ditched the whole post

Do you guys use the post preview? I rarely, if ever use it.. I just check it over in the edit box and then enter it. From there is where I usually think of things to add..

yes, espacially while making the post. i often get all sorts of stupid mistakes (mainly using the wrong words or when i take a lot of time to decide how to finish my sentences i can forget how i
started it and then it doesn't fit (like now for example i used "it" insted of them because i went back and changed the "sentence" to "sentences".)

and i'll read it once over after i submitted it and edit if/when necessary.
and even though i make quite a few spelling mistakes i seldom use the spell check :smirk:

i love reading certine posts that i "like" or think were special, i love my "nonsensical nonesense" post which i've read like 30-40 times

in any case all of our shroomery posts are still "alive" so in effect you're not visiting the past but holding on to the moment (maybe when you reread a post you can better understand your self? i
think i do, when i reread my posts!)

I always reread my posts in the preview before I post them.

Sometimes I'm vain enough to open the thread again and look at my post as others would see it.

MOTH I like your posts because you have impeccable punctuation. :thumbup:

I've jerked off to my own posts on more than twenty-six occasions.

Sometimes it's abysmal.  If I spent half as much time writing stories as I did posting on the Shroomery...well.

Yeah if your posts averaged 20 words each, that's like 700,000 words you could have written instead of posting here.  Ten huge novels...

Of course it's so much harder to write prose than post here; what you write has to make sense :frown:

I'm on a break from writing now actually.  I am annoyed that I can't ever make up my mind about anything.  I have a tendency to write endless versions of chapters, searching for the perfect way of
telling the story I need to tell.  I feel like this is a huge waste of time because it takes me in circles.  Plus part of me knows I'm only doing it because I'm stalling.  As much as I truly love to
write fiction, I am rather intimidated by story writing.  I don't trust myself.

It's because I take myself too seriously.  If I'd just loosen up and relax about writing ("it's not a fucking big deal." ) then life would be so much easier.

Hey.  Is that...the ANSWER?
