Beginner needs advice... :)

Hi,

I'm at the last stages of my first cultivation experiment. Everything is looking fine, the problem is with my casing. I used about 1.5 inches of 50/50 vermiculite/potting soil for the bottom layer, then put the crumbled cakes over the top, then about an inch of straight potting soil as the top layer. I hear I got the ratios wrong and I should have about 3 inches of potting soil on the top layer, that being twice the depth of the bottom layer ... (???) anyone?

Anyway, it's only been a couple of days and there is already really good, rhizomorphic mycelial growth coming through the top layer of potting soil. Should I cover it up with another inch of potting soil or just leave it?

Just for the record, the potting soil I used was special "shrub & bulb" potting soil that contains a lot of wood and bark debris. It seems to be working really well so far.

What should I do now?

a 1" casing layer should be sufficient. if the mycelium is pokin' through, just patch up the first few spots so that it breaks through as evenly as possible, then expose it to light and start fanning
