It has enough nutes, it can even fruit. Just no actives

So if you like the taste feel free

If its not producing the product you are expecting, it doesnt have enough nutes.

Also note that the poster never said anything about active strains, just trying to be a hard ass to you.

I am in the process of trying this 5 min brown rice cups (about 1/2 pint)

Just microwaving it 4 times @ 3 min on high. Injected about 2 days ago and am waiting to see if they grow.

I doubt it but it be funny as heck

Thats a great link. use brf maybe even more then the pftek says to I like to up it by 1/4th for more nitrates if im growing pftek style.

BTW does cococoir have nitrates? what about peat moss?
are they just casing layers or are they capible of being a substrate?

im pretty sure peat moss can be a substrate but is cococoir only a I think the turn is overlay? or casing top.

coir is an awesome substrate... so good in fact it makes me wonder how/why people use it in casings... but that's a different can of worms

and you're looking for "nitrogen" not "nitrates"... nitrates are salts.  nitrogen is a basic building block of protien.

i have heard that peat moss will actually work as a substrate (in fact, i still have the instruction book from a 10 year old mushroom kit that used peat as the substrate... yes that's right, you heard it here.) but it would be an extremely poor choice given all the others available.  cubensis are dung loving, and will also feed on grain, but they aren't as interested in decomposed plant material.  save it for the casing layer.

overlay is something different all together.  "casing" is the name of the layer on top.  overlay is something that happens when you either have the bad luck of stroma type genetics, or did something horribly wrong with your casing.

Peat moss is for casing.

Coir is for a substrate. (or in some cases trace amounts are used to aid in colonization of the casing layer)

And, if you can't find brown rice flour, buy brown rice and a coffee grinder instead of paying those high prices for BRF. Make your own.
