Smell and potency ??

I took my mushrooms and put them into a few baggies and than put the baggies into a plastic container(An old protein powder jug).I just took the baggies out to put in some of the ones I just dried and the mushrooms that have been in there(Since like 2 weeks ago)have no smell whatsoever,Does this mean they are losing potency,I have never never had mushrooms that Ont smell like mushrooms and these smell like nothing at all,Are they getting weaker and if so where should I put them to make sure they retain their potency

They don't smell when dry.

Mine are bone dry (snaps in half) and smell like nothing.

hu ide say mine have smelled. or any I have found. shouldnt have anything to do with potency though.

hmmm... I think I will go with Roger since he is always correct about mushies. Dry ones smell like cow shit when picked al natural, but I'd bet home grown mushies lose smell with moisture.

Sry, but they CAN have an odor when dry. I put my dry ones in a plastic gallen sized container, and they can pack some funk just after a few hours,lol.

Point is, the drier the mush are the less they seem to smell. I'm pretty sure the reason they smell worst over time is because they absorb moisture from the air inside the container. I pack my mason jars with lots of silica gel and my shit don't stink. Now inside ziplocks that's a different story.

It's funny cause I have my nose buried deep into a quart jar packed with dry mush right now...and I don't smell anything remotely close to ass. In FACT I can barley smell anything at all. This is
because my mushrooms are properly dried and stored. Maybe you should review your storage techniques.

It really doesn't matter if mush smell when dry or not. Smell has nothing to do with potency.

If you don't believe me, prove me wrong. Isolate a strain, grow out some mush using identical parameters. Properly dry some and store them in air tight jars with desiccant. Leave the other ones out
to absorb the moisture from the air then put those into a jar with no desiccant. Compare the smells a couple weeks later and sample the potency.

Who knows how the potency would compare after a couple years. I'm gonna say the ones that are actually dry would be better.
