Big Gym and a Freaky spider.

Instead of doing my aesthics homework I went for a walk along the Hocking river today. Not much in the way of fungus, but i did find some old Gyms and this amazing spider.

Anybody ever seen a spider like that before? It's body was the size of a large grape.

I thought you might find this spider interesting as well. I found it next to the gate leading to up to my house. The web was huge and intricate and it was held up by one long thread of web attached to a tree about 4 feet away. No big gyms though.

cool stuff and the second spider pic i might of seen one of those. anywho spiders serve their purpose in the grand thing and they have their story on thier back in the form a geometric pattern. if your tripping and see that pattern its just the ole spider saying whats up heres my story dont miss it or you might get bit

shroomydan, my guess on the spider is either a Theridion frondeum or Steatoda triangulosa, although the colors of those two are not exact.

I'm telling you man.... We get these fat spiders around here, they scare the shit outta me, but I try not to kill them. One day I was washing my car and this one kept tempting to jump onto my car or me, despite my clearing its web away, I finally had to kill it... Self defense!!

It went ::POP:: and then gooshed all over the pavement. I'd like to hear the pop sound that one makes.
